Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

It’s snowing here in good old Eccles and still freezing cold. So I’ve succumbed and have the heating on all the time plus in my front room, coldest room in the house, I’ve got my little electric heater on for a while. I’m wrapped up like I don’t know what but Michelin (wo)man rings a bell. It must be true about feeling the cold more in old age! I rarely wore socks in the past and used to wander around barefoot in the house, not any more. A pair of furry old women’s slippers and socks now.

However I am still getting up every morning so I’m happy!! :-) ;-) :-)

In my head I’ve just said a swear word for this next bit….. s*d the fuel bills. I’ll just have to cut my coat according to my cloth!! Find something to give up. No biscuits for a while. *rofl*

EDIT: I’m kidding about giving anything up by the way. I can afford my bills just object to the blooming profits the fuel companies make. Just didn’t want anyone feeling sorry for me. It’s the people who are really struggling that I worry about. :-( :-)

on a serious note you must keep warm................it's not a joke.

A lovely warm chip muffin and a mug of hot tea................

Minus three last night , just two now, heating is on for hr and half in the mornings at the min then wrapped up the rest of the time , miserable and cold

A bit off topic but:we are shortly going away for 2 months. Our apartment is 7 years old so pretty energy efficient. My quandry is what temperature to leave the heating on. I'm toying with setting it at around 12c and if it comes on occasionally then so be it. Any heating experts out there?
Hampshire? You must be roasting.
Is your heating wifi controlled? If so, you can check your local weather forecast and bung it on as required.

I’ve got one of those electric throws, bit like a blanket to have on the sofa, warms up really quick, and keeps me really warm, best 40 quid I’ve spent.

It was -6c here this morning. So more a gentle chill, but a bit different to Ashton where I was born. unfortunately no it's not but I am toying with that for the future.

What does everybody have it set at?
Whenever I tell people that I have it set at 19.5c they think I'm crazy.
I just turned it up to 20c now to try and get some of the condensation off the windows.

12s about right, lower and it can start to smell a bit musty after a while.
Check your insurance before you go. Most have a claus about the property being vacant for a longer period.

We set it to 20 when we turn it on.

Careful with condensation as this can lead to mould, which in turn could cause health issues.
I know it sounds counter intuitive when it’s cold, but make sure you get adequate ventilation in areas that generate water vapour, for example kitchen and bathroom,

I just had my fuckin gas bill and the central bastard heating is now Off til next December!
