Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

Very cold over night so had an hour this morning and dressed in jim jams and gloves and a throw ! Just had a bill for july to today and i am still in credt and edf tried to double my dd , just rang them and asked them to put it back down and they did no bother , never just accept a big hike , question it always
I did the same when they tried to put mine up. I’m well in credit. Always question them. You are right Kaz. :-)

Tonight I have put the electric blanket on the bed and it’s on. It’s freezing and has been all day here. The car windows have had frost on all day. :-)
I’m fed up of rationing myself although my oversized hoodie/blanket is being well used. So tonight I indulge me! :-)

Stay warm please do NOT get cold!!

A warm chip muffin may help

Electric blanket, oil filled radiator, and a fleece jumper in the bedroom. That’s it. When I watch the TV downstairs the oil filled radiator comes with me. The rest of the house is fucking freezing. The central heating is never on. I’m a tight b@stard. :-) I’m loving my gas and electricity bills. Even though I‘m using more electricity atm due to the darker and colder nights. But that’s compensated by my gas bill, which is few quid every month. I’ve got an Air Fryer to cook my food.

wife put it on tonight (cos it was fkn minus 4 and icy outside - wah, wah, fkn wah) - fortunately, I've come home from the Throstles early and put a fkn stop to that nonsense... she can have me big coat

Right a question for all you experts, where do you put your room thermostat. I have TRVs on every radiator apart from the he hallway, I’ve put the room stat in the hallway however that room will never get to temperature, looking online it says put in the coldest room (hallway) and don’t have a trv on that radiator as it will compete with the room stat.
However, if I do this, the boiler will basically be on all the time as it tries to get the hallway to temperature on the room stat. If I put it in the living room, it will easily get to to temperature and switch off, cool down then switch on as it should. The living room radiator has a TRV on it. What is the right way? The experts say coldest room no TRV but then the boiler doesn’t go off at all, living room TRV will get to temp, fucked if I know!
We are both at home all day and it actually costs £1 more to heat the house all day than a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours at night, as once it reaches temp (stat in living room) it just tops up.

As an ignoramus, what is a TRV please?

I put my control thingymabob (technical term there) in the hallway when it gets cold because I sometimes put my little electric heater on in the living room when it is very cold so the aforesaid thingymabob switches the heating off in the rest of the house which is a nuisance.
My living room is the coldest room in the house, which is great in Summer as it is nice and cool in there but not in winter I think it is a north facing room.

As you can probably tell from my rambling I am not very technically minded. :-)
