Has anyone put their central heating on yet?

No. Never before the 1st October and never after 1st may.

Although the wife is doing the menopause thing so we usually put her in the middle of a room and we all warm our hands near her.

I never turn it off, I just let the thermostat do the work. If it's warm enough then it won't come on. If it's cold, then it will. That's what central heating is for. 15 degC in August or September isn''t any warmer than 15 degC in October so why would you have the heating on for one and not the other?

Same. Never turned off just let the thermostat do its thing.

It’s not come on yet mind you. The ambient temp of new house hasn’t dropped enough yet.

Nope. Power through until the clocks go back - the standard rule in our house. We have a wood burner and the Mrs has a big jumper.

Yes a few times but mainly to dry washing on the radiators as it’s not stopped pissing it down the last week or so.

Ha ha I think I might try that with my wife, I suppose the outburst of heat initially will cause a mushroom cloud like Hiroshima it will be good while it lasts.

I have just caught up on this thread and i was having a new boiler put in and a couple of days later i was in hosp without having worked how to set it, when i came home it was to a lovely warm house, having gone through that cold spell with no heating at all it was brilliant it was warm as i think being freezing cold would have been very bad !
