Has football finally gone mad?

It has gone mad, but it's the price of tickets, merchandise, stadium food, etc that has become ridiculous and completely unfair.
It is weird that prices for match goers are still going up even though there's more money coming in from TV and Sponsors from all over the world. Free pies with every match program I say!

I was looking at some old ticket stubs yesterday.

My first Kippax Adult Season Ticket cost £20 in 1981-82, and the Old Trafford derby cost £1.30, later in the season.

I’m pretty sure that my first pint of beer cost 65p in the early 80s, and I seem to recall my first ever salary as £3056 around the same period.

I’d love to know how this all stacks up against the rate of inflation because even by the mid 90s football still seemed to be relatively cheap.

Not read the full thread so apologies if already said. Football is still the same, an eleite few clubs have gone mad. Made sure that they can keep all the money and not let it cascade down to thw grass root.

There are levels of madness that will be reached that we can barely imagine. Someone will find a way to sell synthetic future options in players. There will be an online market for player image rights. Clubs will sell seat licenses to fans for the "right" to buy season tickets. Manchester United fans will start to claim that buying players for record amounts is more prestigious than participation in the Champions League.

Keanu Reeves earned $256m from the Matrix series! He's not even a good actor

Annoys me how clubs can spent millions on a player but cant make our tickets cheaper. Over the course of a season it cant total to that much and it might even encourage me to buy a pint and a pie in the ground
Winds me right up!
