Has Garrido broken the world record?

He has scored 2 out of 2 attempted free kicks. I can't remember anyone doing it.

I'm sure at least one of the following has a much better record: Juninho, Roberto Carlos, Pirlo, Riquelme, Nakamura.

Sorry to burst your bubble! ;)

Are you taking the piss? Carlos was gash and his free kick record is not that good. Most ended up in row Z - just because his run up was 3 miles long didn't mean they were accurate.

The OP is making the point he has only taken 2 free kicks for City and scored with both ie 100% record.

When he scored against Pool last year my lad was going to video Elano from the SS but as Gaz stepped up he said nice and loud 'Fuck Garrido will never score' and closed down his phone'. The rest is history but lots of laughter around us.

To give him is due he said the same thing while watching the Wolves game but this time with a smile and hey-presto GOAL.

garrido took several set pieces after scored at Anfield last season.....i remember he did some on the derby game against United at home
so he didn't break the record, though i hope so

Its a myth in itself, I said to my mate as soon as the wall was positioned like that, that garrido would score he looked at me gone out. 2 minutes later he was scrating his head. He was Sociadads however its spelt free kick specialist, Thats why he came on in midfield against stoke. he can pass or cross a ball, but just aint quick enough.

I've always said Garrido was a capable left back. Right, he's no world beater, he's not exactly Philip Lahm and there are better free kick takers out there, but since we've been pretty toothless with free kicks for the past 3 seasons its nice to see someone who can score from them, hopefully reliably. Maybe when Bridge is fit it'll give him a kick up the arse to displace Garrido.

I reckon Mancini prefers Garrido, he will want a good set piece taker and he relies on his midfield more than his full backs to defend. A good free kick taker is a match winner, every elite european club has a couple of reliable free kick takers who can win matches on the 90th minute.

If garrido is going to make it. it will only be as a left winger in a 4 4 2. He isn't quick enough like silvinho, to play as an out and out left back in the prem. Machini is very good friends with Erickson. Ericksons players at the club will be the ones he is most clued up on. This is why i don't think we have seen the last of Benjarni yet either.
