Agnew was a contracted bbc presenter though and worked for the beeb soley (even turned down other channels offers), not a freelancer like lineker so he was completely bound by the bbc guidelines without the ambiguity of this situation.I note that not all sports pundits agree with Gary Linekers right to speak out on political issues, Jonathan Agnew has said in the past that he would have been sacked for expressing his opinions like Lineaker has.
Lineker responded to agnew with his usual superior arrogance which is why is dislike him.
I wonder how many actually agree with what he has said or his right to tweet it, obviously two different things, but closely intertwined.
I am not a particular fan of lineker, but in this instance the bbc have dropped a bollock and shown a lager degree of impartiality than lineker himself as they have chose to side with the government and acted to censure personal opinion, as with the attenborough episode and defending bruces comments last night.
