I wasn’t having a go by the way mate I’m just genuinely amazed by the reactions to it. If you’re running full pelt and someone stands on your weight bearing foot then you’re going to hit the deck whether you like it or not.
Of all the controversy surrounding VAR I just feel this is just about as clear cut decision as you can get. In fact I watched the match with the commentary off so I was oblivious to any sense of controversy - I was expecting the reaction at half time to be “this is an example of where VAR works”.
Just a debate didn’t think you was having a pop. You are running and I stamp on your foot two things happen. One foot stays planted the injured one comes up and you fall down. You do not take a couple of strides and throw both knees and arms in the air. It’s a dive the delay proves it and so does the reaction. Whether you think massively exaggerating contact to show the ref you have been touched is valid is a matter of personal choice.
Like a player who gets touched throws himself to the ground rolls over a few times then looks at the ref with his arm in the air. No one tripped and genuinely losing their balances ever does this. Like the the spurs one the other month(son) he waited that long to throw himself to the ground It looked really bad. I would book them all.
