Hats at football grounds...what happened?

doff, i'm reliably told by my better half, has a newer meaning.

doff is seemingly the abbreviation for designated older fat friend.
as such, doffing is what better-looking younger women (who are out on the pull in town of a weekend) use as a diversionary tactic...

blokes will always choose you over your doff.

In 1956, the Tory gov passed the Hat Tax Act which put a 50% duty on all hats. The purpose was to save material at a time of shortage due to Egyptian cotton being sanctioned during the Suez crisis.

Fucking tories. Is there anything that's safe from them?

Sadly it’s become archaic. I would prefer it too, but alas language moves on, fam.
I roof
He roofs
She roofs

What do they roof? Rooves.

I've always used rooves and I'm not that old. Not that I have to write it that often. But perhaps it's just because the pronunciation is still rooves, even if you spell it roofs.
