Hatton - Documentary

Turns out it wasn't Warren who made things sour but Ricky's dad.

Could tell throughout the documentary he thought he was above his son. Long heard stories of his dad stealing money from him.

I used to do some security at a gentleman's establishment in Ancoats & Hatton was a regular in their sniffing etc. And there was a lot of police call outs to his home with his daughters mum, was very surprised she was interviewed.

Anyone know why Matthew didn't appear? thought they get on great?

Hopefully Billy & Ricky can make some peace.

Documentary was great, agree with everyone else about his Dad, blinded by greed and a showed a complete lack of fatherly protection for his son. Seemed like Billy Graham was more of a proper father figure to Ricky. His ex-fiance came across well too, even though she probably got treated like shit with young kids to look after was still able to say she thought Ricky was a good man.

I have one face-to-face encounter with Ricky, when I bumped into him in the early hours at 235 casino. He was clearly out of it and was surrounded by hangers on, I wonder how much they all sponged off him. I hope he can find peace with his self. He was a great fighter and a Manchester legend and should be proud of his career. He wasn't afraid to take on the best in the world and never shirked a fight, not many in the current boxing world can say the same unfortunately.

Very bittersweet watch.
His ex didn't have to be nice but, she seems a real genuine lass and showed that she still cares for him.
All the time in the world for the lad and I really hope he finds an inner peace and goes on to do many great things be it within boxing or outside.
Billy Graham came across as just an average guy who just wanted a wrong to be made right.
I actually work in the CJC and came across both of them when the case was on here - they were both approachable and had many selfies done from staff and public alike. (to be fair so did the granny shagger when he was in here!)
His Dad really doesn't come out of all this very well at all.

Half way through. Very good watch so far. Shame that money seemed to change things after the Tszyu fight. What a great boxer he was though. All heart. Real man of the people and a City fan to boot. Saw him at Chelsea away a few years back and the concourse was rocking with the Ricky Hatton song. Did anyone see him in Istanbul ? Saw the pics of him there.

Mayweather was just a step too far and even then, watching that fight, the ref stepped in way too often to separate them. Still rocked him in the first with that jab.
Was next to us outside the bar (not the Dubliner, the other one) joining in with the singing on the Saturday evening.

Yeah that was some weekend that. All the circus around Tyson. I think Calzaghe and all the usual Manchester fighters like Gomez and Farnell were on the undercard as well. Bit vague now though.

Think it was the year we’d been knocked out of the cup to Leeds and so had a blank weekend.
we should have played Bolton at Maine Road but you are correct we were knocked out of FA Cup v Leeds and Bolton got as far as SF, remember the crowd all chanting "what a load of rubbish" regarding the Calzaghe fight and as for hearing a crowd 'pop' when Tyson emerged was incredible, seeing 'Iron' Mike box live was high up on the bucket list

A really good watch, especially the atmosphere in Vegas for the Floyd Mayweather fight.
5 Nights in the MGM will live long in my memory.

Easy to forget how iconic Tyson was back then. When word got out he was at The Midland, there were thousands outside within an hour. Most of them non boxing fans. Just ordinary people who wanted to have a glimpse of him in real life.

Hard to think of many people from any field who could generate that amount of interest from the general public.
