How do you expect Madrid to make a profit when they’d already paid record money for him? The truth is that all players have their price and we don’t make money on first team players and neither are youth really given a chance. Look at Sancho.
They paid a record price TEN YEARS BEFORE, then sold the world player of the year at a LOSS against a 10 year old fee. Why do you want to make profit on players ? Would you not rather keep them for the entirety of their prime career a la kompany, lescott, zaba, kolorov, Hart, yaya, Silva, aguero, Nasri, fernandinho... Rather than sell them at peak for a profit we don't need....
This is not the 60, 70, 80 or 90's, Manchester City are not a selling club and don't need players sales to get on an even keel so to me the thought of selling players for profit (apart from the likes of Aaron mooy, Douglas luiz who can't get permits for us) is a complete is a no -starter. We can afford to invest in players to see if we have the next 5-10 year player and make mistakes, because the ones that we get right outweigh the mistakes. No risk, no reward at this level.
As for Sancho, he was told he was getting into the 1st team squad and he could earn a start with his performances, he was offered more money, he was offered everything short of a starting spot which you can't guarantee- he didn't fancy it and fucked off (we made a profit though!) But all we've done since then is win about 5-7 major trophies in 2 years (depending on how you class the shield) what's he won? Fuck all, a German supercup! And he would have had all those medals with us if he wasn't so impatient. Everyone bangs on about players doing well abroad then counteract the argument by saying "it's a shit league" when it comes into a PL Vs other leagues debate. For the Sancho argument - see Pogba. Enough said.
Give your head a wobble.
