I am excited for the Europa League, I love watching European football from various leagues and enjoy our exploits in Europe - games like City vs. Timisoara and City vs. Poznan are fresher in my mind than half of our Premier League games simply because of the uniqueness and novelty.

Of course we'd rather be in the Champions League but on paper if you take away the competition name, City vs. Porto is a bigger game than City vs. Napoli and City vs. Villarreal. Porto have been a regular presence in the Champions League and won it under Mourinho. They aren't at their best right now, good for us, but are still a very good side who will play two open and entertaining games of football against us.

I think people underestimate how highly regarded the Europa League is by people in Spain/Germany/Italy etc.

Mancini will want to win the Europa League and the fact that the final is in May will keep a momentum going whilst winning the Premier League Title.

My personal view is that if we had won last night then from today until the end of February "Wembley Fever" would have been a distraction and possibly a banana skin that we don't want - like Arsenal last year.
