Have we had a tough season?

3.0 down to Young Boys yet beat AC and Inter Milan.

I think that answers any questions.

CL is harder to win but if you make it all the way, EL is more draining.

1)They need to do the Europa in the same format of the Cl
2)Then they need to play it on Tue/Wed nights not Thursday in the weeks there is no Cl
3) No drop outs from the Cl to come to the Europa. You qaulified for the CL, you played and failed to qaulity in it. End of story.
4) They need to give the Europa league winners a wild card entry into the CL, not affecting any of the winners clubs league positions entry

Do the above and you may have a compeition teams wont consider a burdon and play weakened teams

It's true that it's going to be easier when we play in the Champions league.

We shouldn't think like: Yeah..we play in CL so we will struggle like Tottenham to get 4th because the CL will distract us.

I dont think thats going to happen like it did to Tottenham. We are going to strenghten the squad in the summer so we can compete in all fronts.

At least with the Europa League managers can rest players. We rarely played our strongest line up in the EL. With the CL its full strength teams all the way, unless you get through the group stage early. It seems to me that there's more chance of losing the following match after a CL tie because that's when managers rest players. Also mental tiredness is a bigger factor after a massive CL tie.

This, especially when you get to the knockouts.

You're sending your best team against the European giants to fight tooth and nail and then your best team in the PL 3 days later. Devastating CL knock outs on away goals or something can really ruin your domestic campaign too. If you have a CL tie against someone like Barca coming up you rest players before hand in the PL and you can suffer for it.

People may see the Europa league as a burden but the CL is extremely draining on your first 11.

Yeah. Thats why i hope we will have more than just 11 top players.

We need to have an strong bench. And many quality squad players. So we dont have to put exactly the same starting line-up to every CL, Cup and PL game. Every player in our squad has to be good enough to step up no matter which competition. If we have players who the manager can't trust in PL or CL games. Like Jo and Swp now.

They shouldn't be in our squad.

i disagree about swp, he's been used quite well in some games coming on for johnson, definitely needs some more playing time to get his form back.

Not sure that clubs will be able to afford really deep squads once the FFPR rules and limits on non home grown players really bite. We might need to rely on the SWP's and younger players such as Boyata.

Also there is a downside to having top class players as back ups. They can be disruptive if not getting a regular starting spot. United have benefited hugely from having players like Park that seem to accept their role in the squad.

Wonder if we had been even higher if we hadnt been in the europa league at all, deep down spuds & liverpoll fans must be praying they arnt in it next year!
