"Our first year in the Champions League has been hard. It has taken its toll but the Europa League takes a bigger toll.

"Playing on Thursday and Sunday is not ideal but if that's what we end up with that's what we end up with."

I never considered this and am beginning to feel confident about 4th (touch wood)

The thing is for me that makes that complete bollocks is that we rested players in the group stages of the Europa, Spurs played their full strength team in all six games in the group stage of the CL. Spurs Prem season has suffered quite a lot as a result of this. They should have been pushing on for third place this season for their progression, or at least be cementing fourth!

So the Champions Lg damages a domestic season MILES more than the Europa Lg does.

travel to more obscure places in the europa cup that's what takes it's toll on many a good team

this.
very few direct flight options to far flung outposts.

Rubbish!

Hapoel Tel Aviv
Bursaspor
Rubin Kazan
CFR Cluj
Spartak Moscow
Zilina
Shakhtar Donetsk
Partisan Balgrade
all played in the group stages of the Champions Lg. they are all as obscure and far flung as any places we went to, and anyone else want to, in the Europa Lg!

Not to mention these teams who were in the qualifying round (this is the full list of the CL qual round):
Red Bull Salzburg
Hapoel Tel Aviv
Rosenborg
Copenhagen
Basel
Sheriff Tiraspol
Sparta Prague
Žilina
Partizan
Anderlecht
Young Boys
Tottenham Hotspur
Braga
Sevilla
Werder Bremen
Sampdoria
Zenit St. Petersburg
Auxerre
Dynamo Kyiv
Ajax
