Have you ever met any really famous Rock/Pop stars?

I went to see Deep Purple - it was the Fireball promotion tour, so the Summer of '71. I was up at the concert hall bar with a mate getting a big round in when Ritchie Blackmore walked in ordered a coke and started chatting to us. The other people were starstruck and just gawping at us. We were chatting for about 5 minutes mainly about the new album and if he'd be playing some of our favourite tracks off 'In Rock' during the show. He drank his coke and headed back to the dressing room.

My mate was promoting bands (mainly underground or progressive) in a church hall in our home town at that time. So we got a couple of trays and took the round back to our tables and all our mates were jealous of us and firing questions at us. 'What did he say?' they asked, and half the room was listening in. My mate said 'He asked if Purple could play the church hall next week, and I told him to '@#!% off!''. Brought the house down.

By the way, Purple were brilliant that night - still one of my top concerts/gigs.

5 minutes, that's impressive, Blackmore isnt exactly known for being talkative is he?

Went to school and played in the same team as Rick Savage of Def Leopard.

You're an ex Tapton boy then?

I've met Billy Duffy in the Happy Man briefly back in the early 90's. Had a pint with Jason Orange in the Mountain Ash round about the same time.

In 1990 I was seeing a girl from Burnage. The relationship kind of fizzled out, then in 1994 I'm watching Top of the Pops and two of the brothers she lived next door to are on there. (Oasis)

Bastard.

About 3 years ago I was in Shoreditch House having a meal. Madonna walked past our table on her way to her 50th Birthday party in a side room. She looked at me for a few seconds and gave me a kind of half-smile.

Earlier in the evening I had to squeeze past Claudia Winkleman on my way back from the pool area. I fancy her.
