Have you ever met any really famous Rock/Pop stars?

Had a few drinks with Shaun Ryder in the Woodstock in Didsbury a long time ago (after the Mondays and before Black Grape) when he was living in South Manchester. We used to meet him quite regularly in there and even went back to his place for a smoke on occasion.
Got smashed with the Stereophonics after a gig in Leipzig in 2008.
Met the Fratellis in Munich after their gig the night before we beat Bayern 3-2.
Was at the backstage party after Oasis' Maine Road gig at the top of the Kippax.
Met Noel again after a High Flying Birds gig in Berlin, then went to the aftershow party and met his brother Paul.
Met the Roses when they stayed at a hotel I worked at in the Lake District.
Also had ice cream with Nena.
And the 'great' DJ Ötzi while on a school trip with my Year 6 pupils in Bad Lausick (near Leipzig).

Went to school and played in the same team as Rick Savage of Def Leopard.

You're an ex Tapton boy then?

I've met Billy Duffy in the Happy Man briefly back in the early 90's. Had a pint with Jason Orange in the Mountain Ash round about the same time.

In 1990 I was seeing a girl from Burnage. The relationship kind of fizzled out, then in 1994 I'm watching Top of the Pops and two of the brothers she lived next door to are on there. (Oasis)

Kate Bush HMV Machester 1980/81ish! (got a kiss off her!)

Bastard.

Lol! Have not washed my cheek since!!

Played 5-a-side againt the inspiral Carpets years ago. They weren't very good and we battered them. They brought flasks of coffee with them for after the match... Not exactly rock n roll!!!

Hardly in the 'superstar' league but Jim Glennie used to work with me in the 80's. He phoned me up one Monday morning and said he wouldn't be coming in again because he was "in London with the band". He was a smashing lad, shared a flat with his girlfriend off Alexander Road in Chorlton. Shame he fucked a good job off really, probably could have been 'Assistant Manager' by now!

Watched a Roses gig at Blackpool Tower Ballroom stood next to Peter Hook. Chatted in between songs and he seemed decent enough.

Three of us blagged our way backstage at a James concert (Free Trade Hall) and it was literally the band, their immediate family and Morrissey. We soon got rumbled, but not before we'd shared the 4 pack of Guinness with Morrissey. The same night we went to a club called Isadoras where Brix Smith gave her fella Mark E Smith a bit of a hiding.

Sat in a jacuzzi for 20 mins talking about City with a bloke called Duff McKagan (He's a mate of Billy Duffy). Only when I googled him back at work did I realise he was the bassist in Guns & Roses. He was a top bloke who has led a very colourful life.

Gary Whelan from the Mondays is a close mate of people who I know. Used to go out clubbing with us in the 90's and watch us play football every now and again on a Sunday. He's a decent down to earth guy.

Liam gallagher came In To the all sports i worked in, in stockport and actually bought the grey umbro stuff he wore at the main road gig from our shop, we had an oasis cd playing in the shop he was well chuffed, he came in with the drummer from Northern uproar who I know from school

I nearly ran bez over in chorlton, had to slam on my breaks Christ knows how I didn't hit him, he took it really we'll....

Johnny marr was on our plane coming back from Majorca with his mrs, top fella

Got really pissed in wilmslow one night with a long haired fella at the bar, who's mrs was gorgeous, he was the lead singer from white snake, really nice bloke

is mckagan a blue?

I was outside cheerleaders in town, next to the hacienda once after a night match. Roy Keane and Gary Pallister were in a taxi and I was knocking on the window calling Keane a shit player and a waste of money. As you would probably imagine he tried to get out to confront me. Luckily for my sake Pallister held him back and stopped him getting out til the taxi drove off. He's one angry f****r!
I saw Mick Hucknall in Home night club once years ago after a match. I had my city scarf with me and went up to him and started flicking it at him, like you do with a towel, it was great sport until the bouncers arrived swiftly and I was frogmarched into the night!
I was in San Fransisco in 1994 at a stereo mc's gig who were big news at the time. I had 15 tickets and sold them at vastly inflated prices to mainly Japanese tourists, and then went inside with a pal. While I was waiting to be served at the bar I realised Peter Hook was next to me. I said 'Hooky what are you doing here?' And both being mancs he recognised the accent. We had a laugh, a couple of beers, some Peruvian and he said that New Order were playing at the San Jose Bowl a couple of nights later and did I want to be on the guest list.? Obviously I said yes., he said that he'd put four of us on it. We went down on the day of the gig thinking he might've forgot because we were on the piss. But no, the tickets were there and we had top seats near the front. We saw The The with Johnny Marr, 808 State and New Order. It was a top gig and the tickets also allowed access to the after show party. 808 State did the dj set and I was on the ale with Derry, the bass player out of EMF and his Irish Mrs. We were pals for a while and went out on the town a few times coz we were both living in San Francisco at the time. I said to Hooky at the after show,'do you remember me, we were a bit pissed?' And he said,' yes you're the posh kid from Cheadle Hulme, are you having a good night?' Good memories, he's a sound bloke, not up his own arse in the slightest.

When I told him I was from Manchester, his first question was Blue or Red? When I replied Blue, he said that Billy Duffy had got a lot of rock stars over the pond into City. We had a CL game (Think it was Bayern) the night after. He was pissed off that he was doing a gig in London as he'd have loved to have come to the game with Mancunian City fans.
