Have you ever met any really famous Rock/Pop stars?

Had backstage passes for Kiss' 1980 UK tour so have met Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Simmons had Diana Ross with him.

Met Steve Harris of Iron Maiden at the Sunset Marquis in L.A. They were supporting UFO at the Long Beach Arena , which we had passes for. Met various member of UFO on a number of occasions, including standing stage side whilst they trashed their equipment at the Day on the Green festival in Oakland.

Met Ozzy having a quiet drink with his first wife (not Sharon) at a night club in S. Manchester after seeing him in concert. We were introduced to him by Ross Halfin the rock photographer, who was also responsible for getting us into the U.S. Gigs above when he was on tour with UFO.

I would have won this hands down mate (you know where I work), were it not for Hollywood Blue's roll call! Here goes:

Kylie Minogue
Mick Jagger
The Four Tops
The Killers
Donny Osmond
Beck
The Farm
Half Man Half Biscuit
Whitney Houston
Lenny Kravitz
Roger Daltry
Candi Staton
Nicole Atkins
Marianne Faithfull
The Boo Radleys
David (I think) from the Gypsy Kings
Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi
Pete Burns

"Met" is stretching it a bit for some of them though.
"Hello, Sir"
"Mmph, hello (with the intonation of fuck off and leave me alone)"
.......was about the extent of it with Jagger, Beck and Daltrey, whilst Whitney Houston was too off her tits to even notice there was anyone there.
Had a regular Friday afternoon footy gig with The Farm and Half Man Half Biscuit in Birkenhead Park, used to work with Martin and Tim out of the Boo Radleys before they got famous (ish), and Pete Burns served me a few times in Probe records in Dipperland.

Met a few stars over the years, but nobody people here would know really.

If Bluemooners don't know them they're definitely not stars....trust me....:)
Depends on your taste in music. I've met a few prog rock musicians who are famous in their field. It seems the musical taste of most on here began around 1988 and ended in 1993 and all came from Manchester.

Well yes,... mention Genesis, Barclay James Harvest, King Crimson etc, on here, there would be quite a few blank faces...

Drank in the same pub as Simon Le Bon and used to annoy him by calling him George Michael.

Ran a website for one of A-ha and used to get drunk with them when they toured here.

Knew an 80's pop star quite well...

Got drunk with Status Quo on a few occasions as a mate of mine was one of their mates.

Had a Bourbon drinking competition with Lemmy that lasted all of 10 seconds when I threw it all up. He made me drink it again. I loved the 80's.

There are others...

Is that the time you turned the large breasted, dwarven page 3 tramp and wannabe pop tart Sam Fox into an alcoholic lesbian ?

Just wtf did you do to her that put her off men for life?

I don't like to talk about it.

Forgot Ian Dury who was a right ****. Do you know I'm disabled!! He was a school mates Uncle and we met him a couple of times when "Rhythm Stick" was getting popular in the hit parade. Such a twat.

I was a guest at the wedding of Mike McGear and I talked with him, Paul and Linda McCartney back in the late seventies.

Drove Shane MacGowan around North London looking for an open boozer at 2 am when I was a mini-cab driver in '99.

Understandably so,they haven't been active for for forty years.
By that I mean releasing and touring new material,it would be like my grandad going on about Victor Sylvester.

I'll give it a go...
Got pissed talking to John Martyn in the VIP area at the Heineken music Fest in the nineties.
Had a beer and a smoke chatting to John Beck for half an hour outside the Academy.
Had a beer with John Mitchell.
Met Frank Dunnery twice.
Had a spliff in a car with Gwen Guthrie.
As mentioned before, had a fifteen minute jam session with Vini Reilly, till he had a wobble out about something. I didn't know who the fuck he was till someone told me afterwards. I'd heard of him but didn't know what he looked like.
A mate of mine was in Peter Hooks Monaco for a while.
Met Paul Young a few times- I was in band with his son for while, so was another poster on here.
Met Lennie Sax in a flat in Crossacres.

For the most part mine was down to being a Manc living in L.A.
I would just blag my way backstage and into areas reserved for VIP's mainly for free booze.
Other than that, you do tend to randomly bump into famous people while walking about Hollywood.
The only famous person I ever saw when i lived in Manchester was Fred Gee in the Middleton Arndale and Tommy Booth on Langley.
And Steve Coogan at school
