Speaking of large boats. One of my old bosses was in the south of france. He is very rich but his knowledge of celebrities/stars of the last 50 years is nil. he was having a drink with his friends and commented on this large yacht on the horizon wondering who was aboard. They noticed a small boat coming into the harbour from the yacht and really thought nothing more of it. As the night got older so my boss got more wrecked. Anyway he gets up to have a piss and goes to the toilets. While he is in there he hears the pianist strike up a familiar tune. He wobbles out of the bogs and decides to join the lady vocalist on stage as he liked a good old singalong. Within seconds 2 burly security guys were leading him away. "If you dont mind sir miss streisand would rather you didnt join her on this one".

Ry Cooder outside the Apollo.About a dozen of us waiting for him,he sent a gofer to the Apsley Cottage for beer all round, and chatted away for 20 minutes or so.Lovely bloke.
Also collided with Jimi Hendrix as he was coming out of a music shop on Oxford Road,1967.He was on at the Odeon that night

Went to see the Stone Roses at University in Norwich, and decided to hang around the stage door afterwards to see if I could get an autograph. Ended up getting invited into the after-show party (carrying my cycle helmet and hi-vis coat....so cool!) although I remember getting no sense out of Ian Brown, and John Squire was in a huff, so didn't appear!

Used to go on holiday in Cornwall and Pete Towshend had a house in the village there,we used to pass him sometimes when he was going to the shop.
Used to clean Johnny Marr and his wifes car at their house in Dunham. He seemed a bit up his own arse but his wife and father in law were nice people. .Had an Alsatian dog called Curtis iirc
Rented a Fiat Punto to Barney Sumner, had a long chat with him about sailing, really nice guy.
Used to sit in a pub with my dad in a village in Cornwall and the beardy bloke from HOW used to come in. He's not rock n roll but when you're a kid in the presence of a TV personality........erm !!!!

Met Richard Ashcroft prior to a gig in Detroit on his first solo tour after the Verve split, 2000ish? Walking around Greektown, images of Bittersweet Symphony walking through my head. Not a rock/pop star of sorts but Irvine Welsh I've met a few times (author of Trainspotting). He drinks around my neighborhood in Chicago when he's in town. A really great guy.

Rod Stewart after Celtic had won the SFA Cup in 1995. Nice fella for a Cockney Rag. Although I have to confess I was more busy looking at his Mrs. Rick Astley several times as I used to work with his sister. Again another really nice bloke.

Drank in the same pub as Simon Le Bon and used to annoy him by calling him George Michael.

Ran a website for one of A-ha and used to get drunk with them when they toured here.

Knew an 80's pop star quite well...

Got drunk with Status Quo on a few occasions as a mate of mine was one of their mates.

Had a Bourbon drinking competition with Lemmy that lasted all of 10 seconds when I threw it all up. He made me drink it again. I loved the 80's.

There are others...

Is that the time you turned the large breasted, dwarven page 3 tramp and wannabe pop tart Sam Fox into an alcoholic lesbian ?

Just wtf did you do to her that put her off men for life?

I've punched one of the Arctic Monkeys, no idea which one as I didn't realise he was a member of the Artic Monkeys (which largely contributed to why I punched him). The short version is, he was a ****.

Slightly longer version. Out for a few pints with a bunch of people and one of the girls asks this scruffy looking guy if he'll take their picture and hands him her iPhone. It turns out, he is one of the Arctic Monkeys, so thinks she wants a photo with him. Upon realising that she doesn't know who he is and just wants him to take a picture of her with his friends, he throws a dive strop, smashes the phone on the ground, stamps on it, then sarcastically says "whoops". I punch him, I get thrown out by bouncers, all my friends kick off and get kicked out and I later find out he's apparently in the Arctic Monkeys. Luckily nothing came of it, but he was a prick.

Met Mike Joyce drummer of The Smiths many a time. Absolute top bloke and top Blue..
As is Johnny Marr - and Marr is doing the GMEX gig I know..... but he doesn't go every home game like Mike does. (Glances over at his signed Mike Joyce drum stick)

Always been a HUGE Siouxsie & The Banshees fan and got a back stage pass to a Channel 4 program filmed in Manchester in 2007 with live performances from Siouxsie (solo), The Enemy, Kate Nash and Hard Fi.
So backstage I bided my time and she went outside for a fag and I followed lol. Had a chat and I practically fell at her feet in worship ha ha. I said ''Remember the Elephant Fayre gig in Cornwall?'' and she yelped ''1982'' and I was like ''YES!''

I said ''you haven't played in Manchester since 1999*, you must come back soon'' and she asked me which venue would be best and I said Academy 1 or 2.
About a month later a full UK tour was announced and she played Academy 2!
And I met Mike Joyce there too!!!

*Was the day City beat Macclesfield 2-0 at home, and my 36th birthday! Went to the game, Rusholme for a ruby, Jabez Clegg for bevvies and then The Creatures at the Academy 2.
