Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

Yep, 4 down in no time, and in typical City fashion we were singing "can we play you every week".

Anelka scored a consolation near the end you'd have thought it was the winner.

And unlike today's fickle lot, we stayed to the end.
There's early leavers every week. Fickle has nothing to do with it

Liverpool beat us 5-0 in 1982. I’m not sure if anyone has matched that. Can’t remember if they have. But certainly no one has beaten it in my time.

I’m sure we must have conceded 6 at home at some point in history. But it was a very long time ago, the last time it happened.
That was my first thought and definitely my worst defeat.

Certainly a few 5-1 and 5-2 losses where it could have been worse (Everton 93-94 and Arsenal 00-01 spring to mind) but somehow we avoided too many complete embarrassments.

I've got a feeling Blackpool once scored 6 in the mid 50s and possibly the week before one of our Wembley appearances.

The Wimbledon one was my lads first game. Thankfully his next one was Birmingham 6-0 in the cup!

Bizarrely we have only won 4 of our last 19 games against Wimbledon!

Liverpool 5-0 early 80’s was the biggest for me.

From memory in the 35 seasons I’ve had a ST these are the worst home defeats I can remember:

Leeds 0-4 (I think)
Arsenal 0-4
Both in the same 00-01 season

Wimbledon 0-4 in 01-02 during that mental first couple of months under Keegan where we would slap someone one week then get slapped the week after

Arsenal 1-5 in 02-03

Then Spurs 0-4 on Saturday

Not sure if I’ve missed any out in that period. I might well have done as I’m struggling to work out if that was really our worst defeat in the new stadium under the greatest manager ever when someone like Stuart Pearce didn’t suffer as big a home loss during his time with us!

Worst one I can remember in my time since I became a City fan in 1977 that I wasn’t at and before I started attending matches regularly was the 0-5 against Liverpool in 1982. This coming after we recorded a very rare 3-1 win at Anfield over Christmas 1981.
Didn't we lose consecutively year on year 0-4, 0-5, 0-3, 0-4 against Liverpool early 80s?

Think we averaged a 0-4 defeat against Liverpool over 4 years losing 0-3, 0-4, 0-4, 0-5 early 80s

We met Grimsby in the second tier quite close together. 96-97 (I think), 99-00 and 01-02. Four wins and two draws. Great fish and chip shops near the ground but some daft sods still went to McDonalds.
The chippy that we went to had fish that were so big you had to fold them in half to fit in the tray. Bloody marvellous.

0-4 Wimbledon was the last by 4 I can remember, Shipperley master class and we played okay.
Annoyingly, that day, United had been 3-0 down at Spurs so coming out after the game I said to my Father, ‘At least United lost’. We got back to the car and they’d won 3-5.
