Heaviest home defeat you've witnessed either at Maine Rd or the Etihad

Gotta be arsenal at Maine road. Absolute destruction. Remember us cheering for arsenal they were that good. Middlesbrough away was a proper thumpin aswell.

Maybe this is what I’m thinking about. I thought it was etihad thoigh, but I’m old and it was yonks ago

From memory in the 35 seasons I’ve had a ST these are the worst home defeats I can remember:

Leeds 0-4 (I think)
Arsenal 0-4
Both in the same 00-01 season

Wimbledon 0-4 in 01-02 during that mental first couple of months under Keegan where we would slap someone one week then get slapped the week after

Arsenal 1-5 in 02-03

Then Spurs 0-4 on Saturday

Not sure if I’ve missed any out in that period. I might well have done as I’m struggling to work out if that was really our worst defeat in the new stadium under the greatest manager ever when someone like Stuart Pearce didn’t suffer as big a home loss during his time with us!

Worst one I can remember in my time since I became a City fan in 1977 that I wasn’t at and before I started attending matches regularly was the 0-5 against Liverpool in 1982. This coming after we recorded a very rare 3-1 win at Anfield over Christmas 1981.

We got beat at Maine rd by Arsenal and they was mint think we lost 5-1.

Yeah this the one I remember as a kid, I was in awe, looked like they were playing a different sport.

Think they were getting clapped off by everyone in the ground.

Arsenal for me. At the etihad. They walloped us but us being us, we clapped them off the field. They were nothing short of magnificent that day.

I also remember getting done 0-5 by Liverpool in the early 80’s. Sammy Lee scored as did our regular bete noir, Ian Rush

If that the time it was Wenger vs Joe Royle. It was hilarious City fans could have called for Royles head but instead they turned in a real City fans performance. Self deprecating chants - boring boring Arsenal and so many more - in the end even Wenger was laughing. Laughed so much.... so proud to be a blue

I remember the Arsenal one at Maine Road. They dicked us in 20 mins flat. I seem to remember it not being too bad as they were challenging Utd for the title.
