Hebden Bridge

This is a weird bit of synchronicity, was searching on Facebook for an old mate of mine the other day, who lives/lived in Hebden Bridge certainly until the 90's went on tour with my band(S) up there in early eighties and mid Eighties. Lost touch with him, when I lost that vital piece of equipment we all kept, called the phone and address book.

I found out he is now a headmaster, his band were called IK and his name is Bill Byford. He was a session musician and has worked historically with a lot of well known bands inc the Proclaimers.

He is a mad Leeds United supporter, and seeing him as a Headmaster made me smile, as he is the type of fella I knew would end up working in the community. If anyone knows him on here, would appreciate you pm me and I will pass phone numbers and email etc.

By the way I loved the place.

Many thanks for your help if you know him

Nick

I doubt you will find many Burnley in Yorkshire.

Unless you are coming from West Yorks/North east it is well out of the way.

Why isn't anyone else bigging up the milk bar in hebden. :(

I can endorse it, went to Hebden Bridge for day out last summer with the kids, to get away form the tourists in Rammy?? Had a Dime Bar Milk shake...very good, could do with one at the ground, especially if they could whack shots of Brandy etc..in.

I reckon the Masons is about the best pub, but it annoys me that often the guest beer is a Copper Dragon as well as the 3 regular Copper Dragons.

You lucky bugger.......Copper Dragon is one of my fave beers. Just wish more places in Manc had it on regularly.

Anyone go in that great little record/cd store there....Muze? Has some cracking obscure rock stuff in it. Love the place.....spend ages browsing it.

What the actual fuck, its my home town hahaa had a right double take when i saw it lol dint know anyone else knew it existed. its a nice little town full of hipies but does have a few good pubs, tbh i would give it a miss and stay in manchester for beer.
how sureal.

This thread title made me piss myself with laughter. I went to school with a lad called Michael Hebden and the fucker used to adore himself. We'd take the piss by naming everything after him (Hebden Road, Hebden Close etc) and he'd absolutely love it if he thought an actual Bridge had been named after him.

HAHAHA, made the afternoon a it easier, this. Bit random but there ya go.

Milk bar is quality!! ;p

Burnely v Blackburn this weekend.

If Burnely lose the town is likely to get smashed up.

The chances of City fans getting a beer in Burnley centre before the match are very minimal.

But Tod is the home of Blue Smartie's so it instantly makes it a quality place.
Didn't realise you lived in Tod-home of the world's best chippy Grandma Pollards. Where do you go supping? I reckon the Masons is about the best pub, but it annoys me that often the guest beer is a Copper Dragon as well as the 3 regular Copper Dragons.

Totally agree about Grandma Pollards

I drink in the Fox And Goose & Stubbing Wharf - I live in Walsden and sometimes go in the Masons - do I know you?
Do you know Bob Stansfield (Frim?) He's a Walsden lad and has supported City since the 60s.

I do!

-- Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:11 pm --

West Ham didn't struggle last month

Yeah it's a danger to the wallet to go browsing in there. The owner is called Sid, he's a great bloke, really into 60s and 70s obscure stuff but stocks loads of current music as well.

Neither was it the weekend after a derby match, with a possible town smash-up if they lose. City are a bit higher profile than West Ham.

I can confirm this statement is true, I tried joining the army of rug munchers but my wife was not very supportive.
