Hector Bellerin

If any lessons were learnt - dont listen to 'unnamed sources' cited by The Sun or The Daily Mirror.

It seems it is you who doesnt learn his lesson.

So you give him a pay rise for 6 months and in the summer we give him another one

Im curious, how much do you think it would take to convince Arsenal and Wenger to part ways given Bellerin has 6 years to remain on his contract?

The figure was 40-50m before this contract. I think right now, Bellerin is simply non-transferable. But if you really really wanted to try and make it happen - what type of bid do you think would be necessary to convince Arsenal? Now you might say 'Arsenal are a selling club' (where not), but lets for arguments sake, say we are. We could keep Bellerin, and sell him three years from now for a massive fee given the ongoing inflation of transfer fees. So why would we readily sell Bellerin now, when we could keep him and sell for an inflated fee years down the road?

When Barcelona given up on Bellerin, its time to accept defeat in this area.

There are other targets, like Fabinho, or giving Maffeo a chance. Bellerin was 19 when he got his chance, same age as Maffeo. The only way Bellerin got his chance, was playing week to week. If Maffeo is of the same quality, then play him week to week.

Can only answer your curiosity when I've checked out the sun, the mirror and I might have a peep at the Sunday sport

I think a figure in the region of £50m would probably be enough. Full backs don't generally command huge fees, and if his agent is convinced he'll get a big enough handout then he'll persuade the player that a move is in 'his best interest', in which case he'll become 'unsettled' and a move will be easier.

Is that what footballers are - easily manipulated fools?

You have it the wrong way around, its players who tell their agents what to do. Bellerin's recently told his agent to thrash out a new deal with Arsenal - so the agent, like a dog, acted on command.

As for 50m - like I said, if we were intent in selling, why sell for 50m today when Bellerin could in theory be sold three or four years from now at a inflated fee? 50m wont even scratch the surface for a player who has 6 years left on his contract, and is only 21. Not only would selling Bellerin represent a poor football decision, but it would also make a poor business decision. No doubt City would pay 50m for Bellerin, safe in the knowledge his value will go up. Well Arsenal now this, and would price this in his current value. So im thinking more along the lines of, 80m-100m. As why would sell well you a player for 50m, today, when years form now his value will go up?

Would I sell you a house for 500k today, when I think in two years form now I can get 700k for it? And there is no pressing need to sell given I have a long contract on the house?

21 years old, 6 year contract - you would need to muster up 80-100m. Which of course it crazy money...........thus the deal is a non-starter.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but you've ignored one key point.

The only way Arsenal will sell is if Bellerin pushes for the move. If he forces a transfer then Arsenal will reluctantly sell. It's the way it works these days unfortunately, the power is all with the players.

That said, I've no reason to suspect Bellerin would push for a move, he seems happy at Arsenal and they look to be more competitive this year.

I'd much rather us give Maffeo a season to show what he's got, and if he fails miserably, then maybe we have to consider spending £50m plus on a full back.

Well no, you wouldn't, as if you didn't own the house outright that would be fraud.
