Here for the money....

Almost every player joins a club for money and the chance of trophies before any idea of ‘love’ of a club, you hope that a feeling for the club is something that will develop during their time there. Does anyone really think that the German POW Bert Trautman or the Durham born Colin Bell had any love of City when they signed? Of course not, it was something that developed during their time here and involvement with the club and its fans. I’d say Hart, Zaba, Komps, Yaya and hopefully Sliva and Aguero will fall into that category.

Probably all of them given that none was a boyhood City fan or, to my knowledge, had any other affinity.

Some - notably Vinnie, Zab and Micah - appear to have developed a genuine love since coming here. For most it is a marriage of convenience.

99% of players put money 1st. Short career make as much as possible then retire for the easy life. Don't blame them wish I could do it. After the money if you were'nt already a fan then you can fall in love with the club. To fall in love with a club the fans have to love you. look at Zab these days. He's not 1 of the top earners. But still on a good buttie & loves the club & the fans love him.

All of our top players could command the same level of salary at any club they play for. For them, the challenge is to win trophies and be part of a successful team. That gives them status and international recognition. As fans, you just hope that along the way the players buy into the "culture" of the club and the passion of the supporters. Without doubt, Vinny, Joe, Zaba, Micah and Jimmy Milner all "get it" and I do think the likes of Sergio, Yaya, Silva and Tevez are all lifted when the crowd are vocal. That's why it's important that the supporters play their part and encourage the team. The likes of Bridge, Mills, Fowler, Robinho (the list goes on) are best just consigned to history.
