Higuain

I did not say it was good value. If I wanted to say that, I would have said it. Higuain is one of the best in Europe and has been for many seasons. If they sign him, stands to reason it will be a very high fee. I can't really see why you are getting wound up by this.
You and me must have very different ways of judging when somebody is wound up or not.

You mentioned poor value in relation to other clubs signings so forgive me if I was to take the very reasonable assumption that you think the Higuain deal isn't.

€90million for Higuain is obscene. It was a figure invented for his contract as a statement that he was staying with Napoli. Juventus are more than doubling their club transfer record on a player who wouldn't even be the best on their current squad.

It's a massive overspend that is, along with Pogba, evidence of how screwed the market is going to be. City's increasing emphasis on young talent is the smart approach.

I would not say any fee of that amount is good value, but I understand why one of the top strikers in European football, over a period of years, would go for a near record fee. What surprises me are the fees being discussed in the English transfer market for average players.

Is he a top striker though Marv? Is he going to be the difference between them going one further in the CL or not? They are likely to win the league with or without him anyway so they are basically laying those huge sums in the hope they win the top prize in Europe - which I don't think they will.
Higuain has got previous for bottling the big games, grabbing goals in leagues that are far poorer than the Premier doesn't convince me of his WC status either.
I'm also surprised that you're surprised about the fees being discussed for average players. It's been heading this way for the last couple of years.
