In the interests of having a fair and balanced enquiry there are other questions that should be asked

1. How many Liverpool fans turned up without tickets?

2. Why did the fans leave it so late to go into the ground?

i was not there as i was at villa park for the other semi. whether people turned up without tickets is not for me to say. i would imagine quite a few did, as for turning up late some were held up in traffic on the snake pass i guess. delayed kick off might have been in order therefore. do you believe that the government / police gave a fuck about working class football fans in the 80's ?

tbh it dosnt matter if there was 1000 or 10000 without tickets either of the two amouts could 'should' have been policed outside the ground the mistake was opening the gates to let them all in, even in todays games fans arrive on the death so nothing new here but back to the gates the the officer who gave that order should have gone down i'm not sure that the same officer was in charge of the pens behind the goal leaving the two flanked pens under ocupied but another massive cock up

with regards to your questions - coaches and minibuses were stopped and randomly searched and police were to ensure that supporters had tickets. freedom of movement around the ground was limited by street closures. did this cause a build up around the turnstiles rather than fans just arriving late?

A fair and balanced enquiry? you got me there, never seen one of them
Seen plenty of examples of the law being used to thwart justice, to protect the guilty.
Btw the Taylor report concluded there was no evidence regarding fans with no tickets, and the road-works and police activity caused the delay in reaching the ground

1) Evidence presented to the Taylor enquiry established that it wasn't many. Touts were left with a lot of tickets.

“I have already found that there was not an abnormally large number of fans without tickets on this occasion. With one or two exceptions, the police witnesses themselves did not subscribe to the ‘conspiracy’ theory (of a large number of late-arriving ticketless supporters).

2) Roadworks then police were stopping coaches etc.

The previous year there had been a big police presence on Leppings Lane and they managed the flow of fans quite adequately. That year there were virtually none.

The vast majority of the blamce lies on the shoulders of Chief Superintendent Duckenfield, who was in charge of a major operation like this for the first time. Everything he could fuck up he did, then lied and lied again to cover himself.

Whilst I agree with the fact that the Police made mistakes I just look at the amount of people there dying to get into the game. Once the police opened up they swarmed into the ground and it was an accident waiting to happen. So I think blame lies on all sides.

how can the blame be on all side's its the job of the police to serve and protect they opend the gates and faild to protect if the gates remaind closed it would have never happend, did they expect liverpool fans to walk in single file holding hands
