This is the bit I don't get. 'Fight for justice'

The 96 killed where never guilty surely? How could they be? They where crushed to death?

The fans from behind pushing and shoving to get into a pen that was already full contributed to the death of these fans surely?

However the influx of fans in the central pens, allowing it to become over filled was solely down to the negligence of the police and the organisation on the day? Or the unorganisation? Which ever you look at it.

The 96 families fighting for justice is absurd. How could they be guilty of their own deaths?

Its justice from the lies peddled since day 1 that basically called their loved ones pissed up hooligans responsible for their own deaths.

The police lied, the media lied and the government lied and they wanted that put right, justice.

The justice they need is for accountability from those responsible, and for the reputations of their loved ones (and the Liverpool fans who attended the match as a whole) to be exonerated, not just by the courts, but I think also in the eyes of the wider public, which, in some quarters, as this thread is unfortunately showing, still need convincing.

Wow. That just beggars believe.

Blaming the fans is one thing, blaming the poor souls crushed is abhorrent to say the least.

it cost the taxpayer around £19 million to represent the police at the inquests. the reason it took 27 years was because the establishment closed ranks in an attempt to cover it up. so the families and others had no option but to fight what they knew was an injustice-to put it mildly. the support they have had has been amazing and the truth though it was always in the public domain ,was ignored and still is by some today. i sometimes cringe at the mawkishness of fellow scousers but this week they can release those emotions in any way they wish. what they went through we will never understand and i genuinely hope this brings closure for many and they move on in their lives. what ever else happens now their integrity and decency is a lesson to us all.

You are right shackattack whatever makes them feel better is fine by me! That poor Trevor Hicks to lose two daughters in that tragedy is pain beyond belief.

Can the Liverpool fans on the day as a whole be exonerated though?

They were a contributing factor where they not? In 96 lives lost.

They should of never been in the position they were in in the first place I agree but nevertheless I'd argue their motives where to get into the game and get a good view regardless. I doubt any of them gave any kind of thought or inclining about the poor souls at the front. I've just looked at some of the pictures online of the pen as it happend on the day. It beggars believe. There are people being crushed whilst the crowd behind continue to watch the match! Unbelievable and really sad. God bless their souls.
