Hillsborough verdicts reached

Murdoch has come out of this looking like a complete piece of shit. Well, an even bigger one than most already thought he was.

About time we introduced a law that major UK media outlets can only be owned by UK citizens or companies registered in the UK.

Murdoch is the devil personified. The only reason he isn't behind bars is the copious amounts of money he gives to his political allies,he is fireproof, end of.

I may get slated for this but I thought this inquiry was so that the families of the 96 could get closure. The fact that now hundreds of family members are now suing for potential millions just demeans their fight for justice. ???? Over the years the rhetoric has been that this fight was not about money.

I don't believe the fight was ever about money but after the hell the establishment has put them through good luck to them they deserve every penny if they get it.

One small sour note I watched one of the female spokeswomen for the group giving a speech yesterday and she let herself down by going into some rant about ''Once again the Scousers have led the way'' They didn't lead anything they were the unfortunate group of fans it happened too, while I admire their tenacity in pursuing justice I would like to think others would have done the same. They let themselves down when they bang the ''Scouser'' drum.

I see Aaronovitch is in the Times today apparently questioning the verdict. FFS

Anyway, BBC reporting that 'Lawyers for Hillsborough families pursue High Court misconduct action against South Yorkshire and West Midlands police forces'.

He's not questioning the verdict. He's basically saying that the root causes of the disaster were wider than individual failings. Clapped out and decaying infrastructure, the attitude of society towards football fans, unaccountable and self serving public servants, football violence leading to the erection of fences. His central theme is that it takes disasters to make us change.

Its not, and never was about financial gain, its about those responsible being taken to task as any other member of society would be if they had been found guilty of committing a crime especially when it involves the unlawful death of a Mum/Dad Brother/Sister Son/Daughter. Would you not agree?

I see. Some root causes that go on for 27 years. Seems like his usual apology for the Establishment TBH.

It's a bit of an odd thing for someone to come out with that because several of the victims and their families were not/are not Liverpudlians. I remember at the time of the disaster I'd just started my first full-time office job in Hazel Grove a couple of weeks earlier. One of the staff there was from New Mills just a few miles down the road which is where Matthew Wild - one of the victims - was from. Also, I think the Hicks girls were from the Home Counties.

It's never been about the money, it's always been about the truth and getting justice for the 96. If you somehow where in a position to give them their families back and erase the last 27 years, do you think they would want the compo instead?
They have been through hell and despite all the evidence to the contrary there are still people who believe the Police version of events. Now we have accusations that it's all about the compo. I fucking despair at the levels of cynicism and downright stupidity that some people show over Hillsborough.
Good luck to the families of the 96, they deserve every fucking penny they can get.
