He sounds like he's trying too hard to be Eminem who's average most of the time. And what's with those stupid eye lenses?Josh Blue said:Banned Tosspot said:Still think he's awful.Josh Blue said:Banned tosspot I would be interested to know if you gave the tracks I posted a listen and changed your mind? Fair dos man, any reasons you would like to highlight?
Ive always liked canibus, infact i have all his albums. Problem with him is hes a battle mc thats his roots and hes one of those mcs that is not able to write rhymes as a track that are appealing to anyone other than a battle rap fan.danburge82 said:Also I've always thought Canibus was a fantastic lyricist.

Might not reckon on many peoples radars against some of the greatest but I like him.
I've always loved those lines from Funk Master Flex Vol.3 over Raekeon's "Ice Cream":
"For all you niggaz sayin that my shit is sick,
just imagine the ninety percent of my brain that I ain't even used yet
Take a deep breath, quick, suck in as much air as my lungs will permit --
then I start to kick that shit
I been gettin busy before the planets started to turn
Before the bees, the birds, and Adam and Eve occured
Prior to all creation, in other words
When the female egg will merge with the man's sperm
I stand firm, my words burn through your exterior
The eat away at your materia, I'm superior
While you only pretend to be, I can double my density
from three-sixty degrees to seven-twenty instantly
Six, multiplied by five by four by three by two
then one, go head and calculate the sum
The time has cometh, I was summoned to punish
Motherfuckers with mouths to run it ? with rubbish
When I come through, niggaz stand stiller than statues
Cause if I have to, I'll battle your whole rap crew
Then I'll attack you with words that's absurd
and rip your fuckin skin off just to get on your nerves"
Love that last line. Genius!
Good fuckin choice lad, Nine was awesome. So was paris. Rip 80s/90s hip hopBigga said:Fook it! One more from Nine...

Dont forget dead prez, about as political as you can get!Bigga said:prairiemoon said:Excellent thread! Finally a contest without Manc contestants.
Clean the thread up and pm battle suggestions to OP, PLEASE.
Best MC? KRS ONE
BETTER LYRICIST? RAKIM
Manhattan keeps on makin it,
Brooklyn keeps on takin it,
The Bronx keeps creatin it,
And Queens keeps on fakin it.
Interesting.
I was going to make a similar point.
The choice of 'best rapper' isn't really a fair definition. Too many variables; party rap, social rap, ego rap, political rap, gangster rap, nonsense rap. That's just the main stuff.
You take away what relates to you. Dead heat between Chuck D and K.R.S.O.N.E. for political sound bites, imo.
Redman and Ol' Dirty are close, followed by Busta for pure bullsh*tting!
OG rappers? Kool G, Just Ice, Schoolly D, Tim Dawg, take your fookin pick!
Just Ice (with Mantronix producing)
"Cold Gettin' Dumb"

"F*%k Compton"

Ego? EARLY L.L. was probably untouchable. "I'm Bad" is one of the best ever offerings.
Straight rap about nothing? Lords of the Underground were ace at it!
"Chief Rocka"

It's like spot that artists in that vid!
Posse cuts? "Money in Da Bank" off Kool G Rap's album is up there with anything.

Loads of classics out there for different reasons.
You have to match real versus properly.
He was decent, not a lyrical talent as such but his diss on compton had a lot of truth behind it. I heard him on a track entitles 'timbs' or summit which was good.TheMightyQuinn said:Tim Dog was recently busted by Dateline NBC for scamming middle aged women.
He wasn't really any good and without the Ultra connection wouldn't have gotten anywhere. In my opinion.

On the topic of main source, Large professor along with premo is one of my all time fave beat producers. Also a shout to pete rock.
