I always liked Black Star from the late 1990s. I believe they are to release their second album this year, just thirteen years since the first one.

Black Star are Mos Def, Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek.

Tbf i was very young when they came out but having worked in hip hop stores when i was in uni i picked up a lot from the older hip hop heads.
Yeah mate T signed them up but they never really made it big..shame cos they were on point.

Also im not sure if i saw him on here but Big L is one of the best EVER.

I also quite like gravediggaz.

Gangstarr - moment of truth.

Blackaliscious, Jurassic 5, pharcyde, de la soul, and despite the absolute bullshit content of the lyrics, NWA and first Biggie album.

At its best hip hop is absolute quality, at it's worst, ie mtv base stuff (if that's still around) is absolute dogshite. Sure there's still good stuff but it's diluted out.
