Hobbies for the middle aged man

60 years ago when I was a kid we use to collect stamps it was boring as fuck but it might have got more interesting

Used to get my stamps from Manchester and from the newsagents attached to magazines, it's so much easier now with the internet to get what you want particularly.

I collect coins now, nothing expensive and I don't follow any rules because I am not interested in the value of them. My latest acquisition is a Victorian 3d coin.

Do all the cooking here and got so pissed off at the cost of herbs in the shops I planted up a herb garden.
So far have parsley, curled and flat leaved, sage, mint, oregano, thyme, dill, chives, rosemary, borage, lovage and purslane. Also have a pot of cut and come again lettuce.
Listen very carefully to your herbs and you'll hear the Bee Gees having a chat.

Or its just the chives talking.

I have probably done more cooking in the last 5 years than in the whole of my life.

Creating an exceptional meal is a pleasure. But probably only if you're doing it because you want to, rather than because you have to, IYKWIM.
The same with anything.
If you really enjoy what you're doing you will be good at it.

Yes, it's a pity we haven't found a way to allocate work on that basis. But I suppose that shows there aren't enough enjoyable jobs to go around.
And whatever floats your boat job wise, you will become dispirited because of training days, team briefings, assessments, elf n safety, etc. etc. sucking all the joy out.

Walking , good exercise without being strenuous but also great for mental health too, did 5 miles round rivington yesterday at a steady/slow pace , away from traffic by the water wandering through fields by horses , cows and sheep
Pub lunch to finish off , great way to start a Sunday

So this guy grew every herb under the Sun. He planted them in alphabetical order. His mate said: “That’s brilliant but it must take you ages. How do you find the time?”
“Oh, that’s no bother, it’s next to the Tarragon.”

OK I'm intrigued, what exactly do you do with the occulus VR headset?
Virtual reality headset made by facebook (Meta). I mostly play some of the sports games like Walkabout mini golf and IB cricket. You get lost in the world and it feels like you're actually playing the game. Loads of different types of games on there. Its also good for watching short 360 degree films in cities, nature, etc that actually make you feel like youre there. It's actually very impressive.

Cheers, Wish I had one now rather than watching England.
