Hoffenheim (H) Post Match Thread

A tricky match for both teams. Hoffenheim needed everything to fall into place for them even to qualify for the Europa league : we needed everything to go wrong for us to lose top spot. There was little to bring out the best in either side and the City side has, of necessity, been changed so much in recent weeks that it is hardly surprising that we lacked our usual cohesion and struggled to get our passing game going. In the light of all this it was a very entertaining game and always very watchable. Hoffenheim are very good going forward with the ball but are very open at the back much of the time - on one occasion they didn't actually have a back! Some of City's play was scintillating : some of it was not. But it was a well deserved win and for all that they were supposed to have sliced through our backline they only had 3 shots on target and 3 off. Ederson had a very good game, Gundo had a good game as did the front three and young Phil gave us a glimpse of some quite dazzling things to come.
