Hoffenheim (H) Post Match Thread

Gundogan cannot play that position. Hoffenheim pissed through the midfield at will almost. I don't think he had a successful tackle or header. Foden and Bernardo had more tackles than him.

Otamendi is a bomb scare.

Quite impressed with Foden. He wasn't having a great game, but never hid and played really well in the last quarter. Amazing maturity from an 18 year old not to put his chin in his chest.

Jesus really needs one to go in off his knee or something.

Laporte is the best player in the World to now

To be fair Raheem made the right decision.Sane was the one that got it wrong.

I like the fact that he creates situations by taking risks. He's not content playing the safe ball. Sometimes it doesn't come off but it creates excitement and opportunity. OK I agree he can make the wrong decision but on the whole his play was explosive.

Yeah, explosive but too many mistakes with the final ball.

I've seen it before, but I'd never seen it result in anything but a goal before. Still don't understand why Sané didn't shoot, he had as good as an open net.
 
What a good game of football , Hoffenheim tried to make a game of it , just great entertainment maybe we could have been more ruthless but some of our football was sublime and chuffed for Phil Foden , a nervous first 15-20 minutes but he settled into the game and didnt look out of place. Sane is the best winger in europe , and he was worth the £20 admission fee on his own , sensational player. We had five big players out and still played a half decent German team off the park at times , but congrats to Hoffenheim they made it a great end to end game in the 2nd half

Great game but we MUST start taking more chances or there will be more Chelsea games. Don't turn into a fast Wengers arse trying pass it in.
 
15 pages and no one has mentioned Stones not being a full back.

He was absolutely dire. Didn't know where to be positionally. He didn't engage any attacker one on one. Didn't stop any crosses.

His body language was dreadful too.

Keep him in the middle please Pep.

Positives were Foden and Sané of course.

What a save by Ederson in the first half too

Except Laporte is always good for the occasional but damaging foxes paw.

It was an absolutely world class save.

Something De Gea used to do but now can only dream of in his drunken stupors (Mourinho does that to players).

Not surprised you enjoyed the game as Hoffenheim are a good attacking side trying to play entertaining football and not known for "parking the bus" just to avoid defeat.
 
Great entertainment and a Sane masterclass. Glad Foden great into the game in the second half with those fine crosses and shots.

It didn’t matter now but I’m not sure who played worse, Stones or Walker. The simpler formation in the second half helped the rest of the team
