Why can't the ref or var be interviewed after the match like managers and players ? Honestly I would like to know how the decision was made that spottys holding wasn't a foul. Fans pay big money to watch games so why can't we be told the rules ?
If we know why than we can know the rules. Each season as I get older I understand football rules less and less.

The officials only give a penalty if the player being held could get to the ball and even then rarely, I'm surprised we didn't send more corners towards Haaland to exploit this, united's spotty forward wouldn't have known it was coming towards Haaland because he never actually faced the ball at any point.

A few seasons ago they announced that there was to be a big clampdown on holding of players at corners and free kicks. Seems they've given up trying to even bother now.

It's a deliberate act by the authorities. You could stop it immediately by any holding to be an offence, just like outside the box, and punishable by a penalty. It suits them to keep the arguments and chaos to fuel the headlines and level up as they see fit.

I actually think it's the clubs that don't want it sorting. They were asked a few seasons ago and wanted it left as it was.

They did clamp down one season - for one game - us against Stoke away (Jasper Carrot Mike Dean was the ref, 1-1), both goals, if I remember correctly were penalties given for holding - then after that they never bothered about it again.

Why is this not a foul ?

The holding of Haaland seems to be of the scale this season.

In the first half it was a clear penalty by the rags centre forward. Than in general play Maguire was holding him in the build up play. This was stopping Haaland make a run.

It seems when Haaland uses his strength he is penalised.

My 1st though was why is that not a penalty? Have the rules changed?

I rarely see City defenders holding and dragging down opponents at corners. Maybe I'm looking through blue tinted glasses but we appear to be very fair in playing the game or very soft compared to other teams.

They say there's not enough in it to give a foul because they'd then have to give a penalty.
Yet I watched in amazement last night a penalty given on the advice from Var for an armball by a Bournemouth player which frankly was ridiculous.
It's all bullshit.
Just more manipulation of the game, using rules as tools

Yep hoiland took it up a couple of levels this season aid and abetted by Taylor

If he has his arms wrapped tightly round Haaland - as we all saw - Haaland has no possible chance of moving towards the ball. He was prevented from running - or any movement towards the ball - and dragged down to the ground. Ignoring bias against City, how on earth is no penalty justifiable?
