Holiday advice

Similar to Ric. Balance due yesterday for holiday in italy in july. Will lose £400 if I cancel. But they want £1500 balance now. My last day I can be liable for losing just the deposit money is 1st May so I am holding on until then before making the decision. Martin Lewis and others saying pay the balance by credit card and you will get it all back eventually if they make the decision that it's not safe to travel. Two things I'm struggling with: if in the unlikely event that Italy decided that the tourist industry can reopen we have to go no matter how we feel or lose everything. Secondly getting money back doesn't seem as easy as it sounds, do I really want vouchers for next year? And if TUI company goes bust I can imagine although covered it may be sometime before I see the money.

The guiding principle is what the foreign office advise, not Italy.
If the FO say don’t travel then you will be covered.

Tell them as soon as you can
I'd say the best time would be at the end of a family meal, but really lay it on that you and Mrs Dan are quite upset about it

Well we did the deed and as is so often the case, the anticipation was worse than the delivery and reaction. After all the worry, they basically said, 'oh no that's a shame, will we be able to go next year......?'

Serious question.....why do you think they will rocket next year. Will this affect UK based holidays....
Because no one is getting away this year and there'll be that many credit notes that people will be looking to spend as soon as they get them, plus airlines will be looking to recoup this year's losses
Yes it will affect UK prices as well. There's bound to be a knock on affect. Holidaying in the UK hasn't been cheap for years and next year will be worse than ever price wise

That's one reason I didn't accept a credit. No way will the resorts be available at the same price for a while.
I'll probably end up driving out to Newfoundland for my next holiday. About time I saw the Country I live in.
