Some really nice locations in the UK like Cornwall and Devon but not overly keen on driving more than 5 hours and besides the weather's a constant worry. Spain cases creeping up daily but quarantine or no quarantine I would not fancy masking up outdoors, that's why Greece held appeal. Love Tenerife with it's long scenic promenade walk from Cristianos to Adeje, but in a face covering ?

42 degrees it was in Turkey last week when I had a face mask on felt like I was in training for the SAS.

With a face like a robber's dog Bob I'd get yer mask on sharpish pal.

Woof; )

I would like to say ditto but couldn't see your face as it was all a blur as you dashed at hyper speed dodging the bar.

Wrote a post out and seem to have lost it before actually posting it, meh.

In a nutshell;
Just back from Zante.
Great short break; perfect weather, good food and cold beers.
Possibly good timing to be back now given what Wales and Scotland are doing.
The midnight restriction on bars closing doesn't make a great deal of sense as everyone then just congregates out on the streets and beach. A staggered closure would make much more sense in my view.
Hoping Greece remains on the travel list as due back another couple of times before the end of the season.
It's shit to be back to rain and grey skies, given the contrasting views leaving Greece earlier.Zante 1.jpgZante 2.jpg

Around 14 per 100,000 last week. As of September 1st still tracking the same.

Thanks, I'd been using the data on the ECDC website, it differs slightly.

Think my holiday to Croatia has all but gone, hopefully Jet2 will confirm after tomorrow's update. It's just where to choose instead, albeit with a risk. Wish I'd have just booked earlier and gone to Greece, sounds like others have had a great time.

Just back from Skala in Kefalonia. No midnight curfew there. Great week just what was required. Never been before but will certainly go again. Met some fantastic people, good restaurants and tavernas. Nice people. Very grateful of the business

It’s one of those places once you chat to someone you can’t help but seeing them again as quite small. Would never of crossed my mind to have gone there if wasn’t for the restrictions. Every cloud eh

HI mate, have you tried phoning up? Is it a package holiday or just the flights?

Italy still at "15" which is above Greece but no mention anywhere in the news of the possibility of it being at Risk. Yet Greece at "14" is considered a risk?

It's a package, I've phone them up and discussed at the weekend. As of last Thursday, Jet2 cancelled Croatia packages up until August 13th. Customers get money back or option to relocate or move date. Just awaiting today's update as think Jet2 will cancel for further August dates, which will cover us.

Still lots of TUI hotel only bargains kicking about, particularly for Greece but also Turkey.
You'd hope Greece will remain ok for the last 5/6 weeks of the season but nothing is certain at the moment.
At these prices though it's all good.
(I'm staying at this one below the last weekend in September, cost us £34pp for 3 nights all inclusive so we've been ripped off)

I’m in Italy right now. Flying back this Saturday from Naples. Tracked the figures for weeks before departure. It has climbed steadily from 5 to 15 per 100k.
locals put it down to poor compliance in the North and immigrants in Sardinia.
It’s easy to work out the current rate not assuming you don’t.

Just been chatting to the owner of the hotel we regularly go to in Rhodes today.

We are due to fly with TUI on 10/10 for week but the hotel has decided to close on 03/10 for the season.

I've spoken to TUI who said that they would be in contact IF this is the case 4 weeks prior to flying...wouldn't say much more.

Anyone had a similar experience? Are they likely to offer me a reduced rate/no additional fee better deal on another hotel? We booked last Jan and got a great price but hotels now in Rhodes are much more expensive and/or the option of a refund.

I don't think it's in their terms and conditions that you have to accept a different hotel so they would have to cancel the holiday. This has to be classed as a major change to your holiday so you would be entitled to re-book with a £500 incentive before a voucher refund was issued and put this toward another holiday up to the end of next year. I have made use of this generous concession with no problems. It is capped so if your new holiday choice was only £200 a couple more then that is the discount you would get so best to upgrade the holiday to one costing £500 more.

If your holiday has been subject to a significant change or has been cancelled due to Covid-19 then please see the Terms and Conditions below.

Summer 2020 bookings
If you have a booking cancelled or affected by a significant change due to depart before 1st November 2020 you can amend your holiday to any departure date up to, and including, the 31st October 2021 and receive a £500 incentive. If your alternative booking costs more, but by less than £500 your incentive amount, your booking incentive will be capped at the additional cost of your alternative booking. For example, if you’re eligible for up to £500 discount, but your new holiday costs only £200 more than your previous one, your discount is capped at £200. You are also entitled to a free amendment or cancellation.

Hmm I almost tagged you into my question ;)

Sounds good I'll report back once they've done something. The lad I spoke to at TUI said they'd not had confirmation the hotel was closed yet...the hotel actually stopped taking bookings on Tuesday this week so there is probably a time lag with TUI.

The day you get notification contact them straight away as it's a fabulous incentive. Maybe start looking now for alternatives so you are ready to strike. Can be used toward any holiday up to the back end of October next year. Greece is still looking sweet for now.

was only reading today Germany have pulled the plug on Tenerife so the result now is most of the Hotels are going to shut, thats it for tourism on the Islands unless the quarentine gets lifted, a nightmare for bar and food establishments, was thinking about November but its not going to happen,i can only see prices going one way for the future and thats up, BA have axed their fleet and have withdrawn all the 747s from service 4 years earlyer than what was planned, so less planes is less seats and higher costs because of demand if it gets back to anywhere near normality, its soul destroying putting the news on now with all these job losses, scary if your mortgaged because you just dont know when its your turn
