Holiday in Croatia?

Croatia doing a Blackpool and pricing itself out of the market?
Found Split very affordable. Great quality beer too.

I got a cab back from Hajduk Split’s club shop and the poor cabbie was trying to tell me things but his English was awful.

Went Dubrovnik a few years back

Wife lost half a finger when she went to sit on a chair, the chair was one of those metal chairs you see outside restaurants etc

They had not snapped it out right. As she shuffled the chair in it cut her finger off

Bad part was they don’t have insurance there

Even worse travel insurance only covers what they call limbs, so a full hand, arm, leg etc

Apart from that not too bad a place

Had a fortnight on the island of Brac a few years ago and i must admit i was slightly under awed by the place.
Tivat/Kotor Montenegro on the other hand was very nice.

Been several times over the last 10 years, Dubrovnik, Split, around Istria (Porec) and last year to Zagreb and the Plitivce Lakes (stunning UNESCO site). Loved all these trips and only had one forgettable holiday there which was to Njivice. Over time, I feel the country has been gradually losing some of its charm in its relentless pursuit of tourist money but that's probably the same as most places in this respect.

I went to Makarska last summer with my wife and teenage daughter, fantastic place and felt very safe I saw no police around at all. Lots of places to eat out or just chill for coffee. We walked in to the the town every night for dinner and to watch the street entertainment. Spent a day in Split and the island of Hvar.
Been there, and can concur its clean and friendly. I would go again but the wife didn't like the rude Ruskies

When for 2 weeks with 4 teenagers - 1/2 Green world adventure holiday (excellent), 1/2 what I could find online : Stayed on Brac - very nice. Trogir- bit touristy but very old

It really depends on what you are wanting from your holiday, and what you like - same with anywhere

Very clean… and what was a bit noticeable very ‘white’

Visited a few different parts of Croatia pre and post Covid. Prices have definitely increased since going on the Euro. Rovinj is a nice place and good day trip options from there, can do Venice and also Lake Bled in Slovenia.

Dubrovnik is amazing. Best of both worlds with being able to explore the fortified town whilst also having some amazing hotels and beaches nearby.

It's not cheap these days so expect to pay more than Greece etc for food and beer.
Just booked for our belated honeymoon, going weekend after Easter. Can’t wait, looks amazing.

Its all relative though. Its expensive by comparison to most of Spain and Greece but cheap relative to the Italian and French Riviera.
Not so sure mate. I don’t believe it’s ‘cheap’ compared to anywhere now. Certainly far more expensive than my recent visit to Sicily. Locals were saying prices have increased over 100% in past 2 years since they went to the Euro

Love Croatia, started a big trek and backpacking there from Riheka, by ferry, to Hvar, then Dubrovnik... up to Zadar (that wind organ on the seafront is hauntingly beautiful), then Zagreb and a fee other places between.

Stayed in Split a few times too.

Been there 4 times, seen something new and exciting every time. People are warm. The food is great!

Worth adding Ljubljana in Slovenia and Serbia, if time permits. Why not go down to Albania?! Again, plenty to see and do.

Currently here in Campervan since start of October.
Been to Pula - ampitheatre
Split - old town very historic
Zadar - similar but smaller as above.
Island of Pag - very nice
Krka national park - very nice
Pritvice lakes National park - awesome in the autumn colours - and not too busy
Heading to Krk island tomorrow for 3 days

It’s a stunning looking country.
