Holidays

Amalfi coast was beautiful but the Italians can be ripping off *****
Been to the Amalfi coast a couple of times and it was fabulous. Like anywhere though you need to stay away from the tourist hot spots and go off the main streets. Amalfi and Positano are much more expensive than other places like Minori, Maori and Vietro too. We usually get ripped off at least once eating on holiday and we call it our "Ravello moment" after being ripped off in the main square in Ravello on the Amalfi coast. We looked at women's sandals in one little shop in Ravello and they wanted 300 euros for stuff you'd but for £19.99 in TK Maxx. Biggest rip-off place I can think of was Mont St. Michel in France. Beautiful place but they start milking you as soon as you get to the car park.

Enjoyed Venice earlier this year and we've booked a weekend in Bergamo in January. Hopefully it's not suffering like Milan!
Milan is really bad, remember walking out of Central Station at night and just seeing teeth. Loafs of Africans sleeping rough and washing in the fountains., pissing and shitting everywhere, exposing themselves in public, minky bastards.

Duomo was nice though

Yes, the Duomo is superb.

I remember being approached by a Yaya Toure lookalike in the main square - my hand went to my wallet in my pocket straight away and didn't leave until I'd managed to extricate myself from the conversation.

I'm hoping that Bergamo will be a bit quieter.

The taxis in Italy are fucking ridiculous, never used to be that bad

€20 for a 6 minute drive from airport hotel to airport. Hotel was €5 and ran 24 hour. Got an Uber from Manchester Airport to where I live which isn't close and it cost me 32 quid which I imagine includes the god awful £6 pickup charge. Costs €10 just to get into Venice now doesn't it?

Yes a charge for Venice, i stayed for 3 nights and the restaurant prices were fine, as most of Italy, its just the taxis which are crazy prices.

Riga what a City, I’d highly recommend to travel here in Autumn

Forest are beautiful colour and crops have been harvested.

It’s home to 5 huge aeroplane hangers with local produce, freshly picked and very well priced. Off course it’s mushroom season so I’ve been indulging, porcini, truffles and chanterelles to make but a few.

For 2.5kg beef fillet, 1kg porcini and 1kg Chantrelle purchased for less than €45, when you consider that’s the price of a KFC party bucket back home it’s a bit mad

As someone who loves food the market is both interesting and exciting, giant pomegranates, eels, Fish eggs, dairy and the most amazing pastries. There’s really something for everyone and you could make a holiday out of the produce alone.

Not if you are staying in Venice.
It’s for day visitors only and only for certain parts of the year April to July.
