Your in for a treat. It really is a beautiful little township with lots to see and do. The Sound Of Music tour is a must, as is a trip up the Untersburg mountain by cable car that is easily reached by the local bus service. I wouldnt do it again as it was way too stressful but the views at the top are beyond breathtaking.
Mozarts birthplace in the old town was worth a peep with some quaint streets and lots and lots of barrochy architecture, as was the Mirrabella gardens were Mozart used to attend concerts as a kid. The Mirrabelle gardens featured in the sound of music too.
Here's a run down of the Sound Of Music tour places. We even got to sing along on the coach with all the other oddities.
At the end of a busy day a nice scoop of the amber nector, overlooking the babbling salstash river with memories worthy of carving deep into our hippocampus. Picture postcard pretty .. all lot of it.
Untersburg Mountain with Saltsburg airport way into the distance.
The cable car going up. You can actually walk it back down and did consider this after getting a bollocking off a German tourist dressed in leiderhose and daft hat. I was trying to be first in the queue to get back down so I pulled on the giant shutter doors and they wouldnt open so I pulled some more and the alarm went of. Proper got on one he did but as I'm a bit bi-lingual I managed to make out meinne gotte meinne gotte sturzgefahr. Anyway I got the wrong exit door and this shutter door was for the cable car maintainance crew. (think where Eagles Dare) No mither.
Saltzburg Zoo filled with rhinos wilderbeast and leopards etc
