Holidays

Anyone been to Icmeler recently? What’s the typical cost for a meal/ pint of beer?

Fucking beach sand would be good for making concrete rough as fuck. I know someone who went past year said prices had gone up alot on the previous years. I went in 2020 icmeler nice enough better than that shithole mamaris.

Cheers. Not sure I fancy that airport transfer. Seen other options really close to local airports and probably be arriving late evening

Was in Croatia and Slovenia last October with the missus. Just spectacular. The Croatian coastline is incredible and some of their beaches are out of this world. Not to mention the islands. And Lake Bled in Slovenia is like something out of a fairytale. Stunning. Highly recommended.

Next trip is another little jaunt across the old pond to go to a place called the Etihad in March to see a certain team in blue take on the Geordies...:) It's been too bloody long. Bringing my City-mad son too. Can't wait.

Then Washington DC for Easter to visit my daughter. Lovely at that time of year with the cherry blossoms.

After that, who knows. Probably a trip to Costa Rica in Summer or Autumn. Looking at retiring there. Ain't living in the US once I give up this work thingy.

I might try and sneak in a long weekend back in the auld sod on a solo trip if I can manage it. Clonakilty Guitar Festival in September maybe...stay tuned. (Geddit?)

Ljubliana is a lovely city. Take the funicular up to the castle. Bled is less than an hour from there by car. If you can at all, spend a night there. Take the hike up to Bled castle if you have time. Prepare to spend a couple of hours doing it though. If you have time, take one of the Pletna boats over to the island in the lake. Again though, it's a couple of hours to get there, spend some time on the island and back.

Lake Bohinj is another almost equally beautiful lake about a half hour south of Bled. Well worth a trip even if it is a separate one. Triglav Gorge is also beautiful. Waterfalls and a lovely walk along the side of the river in the gorge itself. That's pretty much what we did as we only had 2.5 days there. There's lots more to do in that area though.

You could also head down to Piran on the Adriatic coast. We never made it but it is supposed to be worth a visit. The good thing about Ljubliana is that nowhere in Slovenia is too far. Have fun. I'm jealous...;)

We have 4 days. Going to do the gorge and Lake Bled (good cakes apparently). Thinking of doing Predjama Castle too time permitting. Really looking forward to it.
Thanks for the tips.
