Got a letter from Lloyds TSB today, a reminder that my building/contents insurance is due for renewal next month and it will increase by £5.00 per month because I made a claim in May.

As I haven't made any claim, I phoned them. It turns out that I made a "hypothethical claim".
A feckin what?????

I lost my new glasses a few weeks after I bought them, they cost me £200 and I was a pissed off 'cos I now had to buy a new pair. So I thought "I'll ring the Insurance firm and ask if I'm covered for loss of personal good". They said "No", so that was that. I just bought a new pair.

No insurance claim made, no letters, no forms...nothing.

So they think it's okay to charge me £60 a year extra... cos I'm now somehow a "a risk".
I was told it's a "hypothetical claim". And it is now on a database shared by all insurance companies.

Obviously I have now cancelled my insurance.

Has anyone else heard of such a thing? Getting financially penalised for asking a simple question?
Get with privilege ,i've claimed for a damaged laptop ,done and dusted within a few weeks and thats with them doing tests, they even gave me enough money(argos voucher) to get the next one up .Insurance didnt go up either and its only costing us about £200 a year, with accidental and everything.

Cheers I'll get a quote.
I've just tranferred my Lloyds TSB credit card to another company on the strength of my conversation with the wankers today. If only I could do the same with my over-draft.

Don't you have a beautiful Alsatian ?

There's been a lot about this in the press lately and believe it or not if you make an enquiry but don't claim, like you did, they can do exactly what they did!
There's nothing you can do about it.

Not that I am disbelieving you (but guess I probably am) but can you quote any links to any articles on this?
