We don't need any of these players, no we don't. Why squander twenty something million on a quota player when we have Ihenacho who can be a third striker, Jason and Rony who can make the numbers? I know these guys don't qualify as HG players but with 17 quality world classnon-HG players and 3 equally good HG players, we can name a squad of 20 along with as many junior players as possible including Sterling, Ihenacho, Jason and Rony. Easy peasy!

Out of our current squad, these are the first team players over 21;

'Keepers: Hart, Wright, Caballero.
Defenders: Zabaleta, Sagna, Kompany, Demichelis, Mangala, Kolarov, Clichy.
Midfielders: Nasri, Navas, Fernando, Fernandinho, Yaya, Silva.
Strikers: Aguero, Bony, Dzeko, Jovetic

That's 20. You're allowed a maximum of 17 foreign players so out of those 20 we need a minimum of 3 to be homegrown;

Homegrown: Hart, Wright and Clichy

We can name as many U21s as we like, Sterling is the most notable. Other players likely of being promoted to the first team squad are Lopes, Denayer and possibly Iheanacho.

That right away is an official squad of 20 by Premier League rules but 23/4 players to realistically choose from.

Factor in the likely departures of Dzeko and Jovetic then that would allow us to sign 2 foreign players. Say, off the top of my head, De Bruyne and Pogba. Any "foreign" transfers outside of that would require one in, one out. Or we could sign players like McCarthey with 5 free HG spots to fill up if we want.

*Disclaimer: I know I'll have messed up somewhere in my reasoning.

Lol, "*Disclaimer: I know I'll have messed up somewhere in my reasoning."

Iheanacho hasn't been here long enough to qualify as U21 has he?

He is under 21 years of age, that's the only criteria required.

Only for the Champions League. In the Premier League, it doesn't matter. But having said that, going into the CL with only 2 strikers named doesn't seem like the best idea.

I was thinking CL qualification, I always get the two mixed up. He would be on the A list for the CL.

Well he won't be on the A list, he just won't be playing in the CL...

But Aguero and Bony should be able to manage 6-12 CL games between them. Spread out over 6 months with Sterling there if necessary.

Absolutely agree we seem to almost over cover ourselves in what 'might' happen and it never does. When we were missing all our strikers we went to a false 9 and look how well that turned out! Burnley at home being the notable f up...
