Yes.. it really is the best show ive ever seen
Took a while to properly get in to things. Really enjoyed the first two episodes but the third lost all momentum and I was losing interest. But my mate, who has seen the whole series, told me to stick with it and he was right. Last night's was a cracker.
Liz, Mad Men is sensationally good - there has been at least five occasions where, as the credits roll, I've thought 'That's the best hour of television I have ever seen'. On one occasion I literally applauded because it was as good as television was ever going to get. It went beyond the medium into a serious artform.
Some people give it a courtesy watch then give up because nothing happens in it and admittedly it can be a slow-moving show. But its such a shame because once you're in you are IN. Like the Sopranos it gradually creates this real world with fully rounded characters that you get to know intimately - how they think and what motivates them. So it's often not the situation that's entertaining but how the character responds to the situation.
That's why people who only dip their toes in with it think nothing happens - because all the drama is in the responses. Sometimes just a withering put-down can be so unexpected from a character that it equals any big plot development of another programme.
Plus I know how much you love Miss Hepburn so I figure you'll love all the 60s glamour.

It's one of those that I meant to get into for ages but never got around to it and then I weirdly 'blame' the show for this and get annoyed at it.
I do this with books all the time. Buy one fully intending to read it but then after a few weeks of it staring at me from the bedside cabinet I get annoyed at it and think 'fuck you, I'm not reading you now. Not after all those withering looks up at me'.
