Homeland.

Yep, enjoying this aswell

Not quite the artistic standards of MadMen or Sopranos

But in the enjoyable bullshit bubble as 24 and Lost

watched first 2 episodes, really enjoying it.

However, no series will come close to Sopranos or Madmen

I keep seeing the adverts and press stuff about Madmen - Is it worth a watch?

Watched the first three and got ten minutes into the fourth before thinking "why am I wasting my time with this shit" and deleted it and the other 2 episodes I hadn't yet watched.
Can't say I'm a fan.
Took a while to properly get in to things. There was a point, probably about 4 episodes in where I thought this isn't going anywhere.

It has started to move forward now.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes but the third lost all momentum and I was losing interest. But my mate, who has seen the whole series, told me to stick with it and he was right. Last night's was a cracker.

Liz, Mad Men is sensationally good - there has been at least five occasions where, as the credits roll, I've thought 'That's the best hour of television I have ever seen'. On one occasion I literally applauded because it was as good as television was ever going to get. It went beyond the medium into a serious artform.
Some people give it a courtesy watch then give up because nothing happens in it and admittedly it can be a slow-moving show. But its such a shame because once you're in you are IN. Like the Sopranos it gradually creates this real world with fully rounded characters that you get to know intimately - how they think and what motivates them. So it's often not the situation that's entertaining but how the character responds to the situation.
That's why people who only dip their toes in with it think nothing happens - because all the drama is in the responses. Sometimes just a withering put-down can be so unexpected from a character that it equals any big plot development of another programme.

Plus I know how much you love Miss Hepburn so I figure you'll love all the 60s glamour.

Have you seen Deadwood LT? I think you would love it.

It's one of those that I meant to get into for ages but never got around to it and then I weirdly 'blame' the show for this and get annoyed at it.

I do this with books all the time. Buy one fully intending to read it but then after a few weeks of it staring at me from the bedside cabinet I get annoyed at it and think 'fuck you, I'm not reading you now. Not after all those withering looks up at me'.

I think I need help.

said earlier on in the thread, this is an absolutely cracking series however the finale is so so weak compared to the build-up episodes. series 2 starts in october this year though and will definitely be giving it a watch.

Yeah she is messed up. I wonder if she remembers after that shock treatment.

I don't think Brodie is a bad guy he is just screwed in the head.

This season has been an absolute cracker. Anyone else watching?

Brilliant TV - the episode when they had Brody in for interrogation was one of the best 60 mins of telly I've seen.

Not Sunday night viewing for me though - recorded and saved till Friday!

Damien Lewis (Brody) is such an underrated actor. Kind of weird probably his two best known roles are as Americans (this and Dick Winters in Band of Brothers).
