He is homeless though. There is plenty of help in Manchester and wider GM and most beggars will say they or homeless whether they are or not and also a lot pretend they can't get benefits due to being homeless.
The A Bed Every Night night offer will have cut off times and differ by district, and if beds do run out in the coldest months when demand is highest, then a sit -up service is normally provided so no-one needs to be roofless. Some ABEN you will have your own room an can stay 24hrs a day.
Why though? What else is he gonna do with his money? If a can of ale helps through the biting cold nights whats the harmErm, me, next question.
Maybe a hot soup and a pair of gloves/socks but hey-ho.Why though? What else is he gonna do with his money? If a can of ale helps through the biting cold nights whats the harm

That's a lovely thing to do, well done mateThere's a guy who bases himself on the LHS of the Nexon Bridge under carriage/Howard Bernstein Way.
I take him a flask of homemade ham & veg soup and a pack of Waggon Wheels pre match.
He gives the flask back post match for a refill for next time.
Good food is better most of the time forcthese guys than cash.
This is absolutely true, my daughter works in the homeless sector, she has told me some don’t want help , …There is plenty of help in Manchester and wider GM and most beggars will say they or homeless whether they are or not and also a lot pretend they can't get benefits due to being homeless.

But that's a small minority. Also they are people. It must be easier for some to try and make their own way then acknowledging to others (charity orgs etc) that they need help. It could be a sign of fight in them not wanting help from charities. Basically i try and drop what i can because even if they have a substance problem or whatever..sitting outside a supermarket in the cold all day for pennies was probably not what they dreamt about as kids. Anything to help out is better than judging people. This is absolutely true, my daughter works in the homeless sector, she has told me some don’t want help , …

The guy who sits with his dog after the match looked freezing couple of weeks ago so my Mrs took my gloves back to him to help him out.usually have a bit of spare change very rare I have spare gloves and socks on me :-)
You can’t help those that don’t want to be helped!!!This is absolutely true, my daughter works in the homeless sector, she has told me some don’t want help , …
People are subject to,or choose, alternative life styles and its their choice....right or wrong. You can’t help those that don’t want to be helped!!!
You find that everywhere in life!!
IMO :0(
Not just the homeless??
But that’s not to say that we should all give up trying to help others any where that we think may need our support ?? :0)
I totally agree :0)People are subject to,or choose, alternative life styles and its their choice....right or wrong.
Those who are on the streets perhaps don't want our sympathy or understanding.
However, they do need the best food and clothing they can get under their circumstances.
That's where we come in.
We can give them that.....simple, low cost/no cost donations of wholesome food and warm protective winter clothing.
A little kindness goes a long way with these guys.
Help if you can.
WELL DONE. TOP MANTo be fair, unlikely to be saving up for a mortgage is he?
If drugs and alcohol get them through the long, cold night, I consider it none of my business, as long as they aren't thieving it or hurting anybody else?
I tend to give someone who is civil and clearly down on their luck a few pennies and also some food?
Last winter, got speaking to a young girl called Lisa who was freezing whilst begging outside Sainsbury's in Sale.
Clearly had a drug problem but was so vulnerable.
Not sure why, but asked her if she wanted something to eat from Greggs and she asked for two steak bakes and a large hot chocolate.
Brought them back and she was so grateful. I went back inside Sainsbury's and bought her a tent, socks, couple of jumpers and some T-shirts.
Cost me a couple hundred and she started crying and asking me why, and I just said why not?
I have kids of my own and you never know how life will go, I'd hope if they were ever in trouble, someone would stop and try to help them.
Not a pop at you or anyone else, but I seem to be getting less judgemental of things since turning 50!!
