Homosexuality in football: Three players speaking to FA about coming out, says MP

Could not agree more. According to the last census 0.05% of the population are gay. So? What about all those starving kids in Yemen? Why is this even under discussion?
How can we help those kids in Yemen?

In what way is this subject blocking that?

And you've made those census figures up:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/reality-check/2013/oct/03/gay-britain-what-do-statistics-say

93.5% identified as 'heterosexual', 1.5% saying gay or bi and nearly 4% not answering (for whatever reason).

Kinsey puts the figure at 10%.

A lot of starving kids from Yemen playing football in the Premier League, are there?

I agree about the 8%, meant to mention that, but as someone else said, I think it's bullshit by the fans who said they would stop going. If they do though good riddance.

Obsession may be the wrong word, maybe replace with interest. My point is that it should not matter one little bit to anyone else whether you choose a same sex partner or not.
For me it really does not matter. I am genuinely not interested. In fact I prefer not to know, in the same way as I do go around telling the rest of the world what I am up to in my bedroom. The discrimination is terrible though and for that reason it is probably good if they come out to get this stuff normalised. I say let's get it over with. It is in any case unrealistic to believe that there are no gay footballers. And the 8% can fuck right off.

Kinsey was an unscientific charlatan.

Properly conducted surveys world wide repeatedly put the figure at between 1- 4%.

Although I'm not going to start guessing players I can't help but wonder if it's any of our guys and if so, how the fans and teammates would react. I think a club would lose some supporters, but mainly 'Since 2012' fans from certain foreign countries and cultures which are strictly against homosexuality. The real fans don't give a shit.

I don't think it's ridiculous to suggest that openly gay players would receive a lot of abuse, even bad-natured teasing from people who aren't even homophobic, and there'll certainly be a few chants about it made up by bitter opposition fans.

I like to think that nobody in our squad would reject a gay teammate but there's such a range of backgrounds/cultures/religions/personalities in there that it's impossible to know for sure. Would be nice to see the clubs stick up for their gay players, no matter how many fans try to get on their backs.

It would explain sterlings duck arse run. I think any stick/piss taking would come from away supporters followed by kick out homophobia campaign and hysterical social media knicker wetting, personally if I was a gay player i wouldn't make a song and dance(no pun intended) about it. Just live your life and don't feel the need to hide it, if anyone asks if you're gay just say yes so what. Nobody should feel the need to come out.

I don`t think its a case of "needing to come out" but possibly "wanting to come out".
Perhaps individuals feel they want to be seen in public with their partners and are sick of hiding their sexuality.Just a thought.
