Hong Kong and Security Law

Most likely outcome is China will prevent anyone leaving Hong Kong...

Maybe in fact probably, international intervention would be unavoidable then.

If not how long do give it before they attempt to take Taiwan and then ramp up their aggression in the South China Sea.

International powers just can't ignore what they're doing. The trick would be for countries to stop trading with them and invest in a country that could make up the shortfall, easier said than done of course.

I had two thoughts when I heard this. One was at least for once it looks like we will be prepared to do the right thing and two I had a feeling this will boil some Brexit piss.
Why would it boil a Brexiteers piss ? It's the right thing to do as they are historically part of the British way of life and would offer this great nation something. Rather than an Eastern European who chooses to come here because his life and his families is fucking shit because of the poverty he sits in and as a (Ex) member of the EU there was fuck all we could do about it

I agree in principle with what the government are doing, however I do have concerns how practically it’s going to work.

if say 3 million do come here. Where are the jobs/ housing, especially at a time where millions of people are losing their jobs. (No doubt I’ll be labelled as something)

I’d also say does it mean Hong Kong is basically abandoned to China. All the people who have protested so much for it, just leaving and not there to fight for what they believe in. What’s to stop China just doing the same in other countries?

Other countries have a military.

These are as close to British citizens as possible without being one, it’s our obligation to offer them aid and not leave them to a tyrannical communist state.

never said it wasn’t. My point is about practicality. Where are the millions of jobs? Especially when so many are currently losing theirs.

Agree there should be a collective effort. Taiwan has already announced a dept to facilitate people who wish to leave. Australia I understand have indicated willingness.

An excellent decision by the UK Govt. Not often I get to say that.

I think there has to be, our population increases are not sustainable and you don’t need to be a ‘racist’ or ‘Farage lover’ to have this view.

There won’t be millions coming and as I’m not Tony Blair or Gordon Brown this isn’t a lie, right is right whoever does come should be welcomed imho.
