Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Started going to the games with mates and not family when I was about 12 in the early 80s. My old man used to say you have three options when it kicks off outside the ground.

1. Get in the Parkside quick
2. leg it home (being Edith Ave wasn’t too bad lol)
3. Stand and fight

As a very young teenager the boys would always look after you if you got caught up in anything or stood with them.

Wonder how many on that video are a) still going to matches and b) post on here. I am pretty sure there are some doing both

Spurs pitch invasion game was pretty bad.

I was walking back down the top end of Claremont Road towards Curry Mile with my mates and was in a crowd of around 1000 when bottles started flying over our heads.

Bloody City fans thinking we were Spurs fans.

Away from home, nothing scared me more than a midweek night match away at Leeds. Always a bugger to get the bus across the road from Leeds Central.
