How bad was it at Maine Road?

Read some stuff in the week and a few guys from London firms said they respected City firms as they were always up for a fight and they didn't like going to Maine Road due to the side streets and it was easy for City firms to get them into dead ends and corner them.

I started going regularly in 85 and never really seen much of it. Think it was a combination of where we stood(windy corner) from 85-93 and me a my dad always going to Maine Road excalty the same same, think maybe he was shielding me away from that as in 85 I was 10.

The worst I seen was the Derby in 89, Leeds boxing Day when it all kicked off in the North Dtand(think that was 89 or 90) and bizarrely Oldham when away fans were in the North Stand. It was 3-3 at half time and turned very nasty.

Seen a couple of fights outside but my dad quickly changed course. Early 90's and my teenage years I never really seen anything.

Was it bad at Maine Road or quiet in compressions l with other grounds at the time?

I'll start again
Millwall late in the 90s was 1 of the biggest kick offs I've seen
3-0 Win and it all went off in the North Stand big time
Prior to that it had been a licking off Before as they all got off the Train at Stockpile
And after around Rusholme going back to Picadilly

I remember Bottles thrown into the old Kippax rafters raining shards down on the people underneath along with darts and coins.

The last time I had a fight at Maine Road was Vs Newcastle in 1984.
They brought @ 10k as they were going for promotion from Division 2.
A few were taking liberties as there were so many of them so I got into a couple of scuffles as I walked past them and then again after the match as I walked back to my car.
The previous season Vs WHU and I ended up walking back to my car down Lloyd Street North with the ICF closely following behind complete with police escort. And a big crew of Blues itching to get at them, but the police escort keeping them apart.
As the front guys from the ICF drew level with me I was itching to blindside the closest Cockney twat and punch him in his big gob but I bottled out at the last second .
Mainly because I was with my Dad and he was under the impression that I was a good lad with a good job and a young family, and not an experienced football hooligan.

Remember the pair of them very well

Didn’t they get off at Stockport to battle with the United fans on their way to an away game?
Total nutters
