Hooliganism and Violence Maine Road 80's/early 90's

Yes mate I remember it well first visit there for years I got the special down had a escort to the ground but mf and the guvnor’s did there own thing they had a coach parked up at Piccadilly approach in the morning asking for recruits .. I abstained .

If that was 87, me and my mate joined the escort. Dogs and horses knocking around but still felt dodgy as fuck. There was trouble at the turnstiles and then you had to walk behind their stand to get to the away bit. Load of lads out that day. We only had about 800 there I reckon and it was all lads. Adcock winner. Kicked off at London Bridge after the game.

Forest was dodgy as fook back in the late 70s

Yep. they were a real dodgy lot back then .... this cup game was played on a Sunday in the early 70's but there was a bad feeling even before the game, and our coach was bricked as soon as we entered Nottingham .... the Forest yobs broke out of the home sections and surrounded us in on one corner of the ground, don't know where the fuckin' cops got to, but it got really nasty , and it wasn't any better outside afterwards ..... in the next round of the cup they were drawn at Newcastle and it all kicked off there too , with a several fans getting stabbed.

Yeah , they were previously ciculating leaflets in the kippax asking for 'recruits' who 'wouldn't run' .... rumour has it that they had a 'run in' with Millwall near London Bridge.
I met a Millwall fan a few years after mate,
On holiday in lanza he honestly said city went down there and took liberties he couldn’t believe what we took hence the turn out at our place when they had every fooker from the Home Counties with them.

Thought we did better than a great performance mate. Cardiff made a big mistake calling it on there... City’s coaches parked 100 Yds away, they got swamped.
Nathan Blake scored their goal proper turn out from city that day

surprised the Liverpool league cup semi final in 81 hasn’t had more of a mention. I was only 12 but Fuck me after that game I hadn’t seen anything like that before. There were hundreds of City lads going after anything that smelt like a scouser. I believe a fair few had to lock themselves inside shops for their own safety. That was after the Alf Grey shit decision.
It was even worse the second leg
Every man & his dog was up for it
Scousers got the shock of their lives

That was the one mate 87 never been to a game when it was pure lads ..not saying football violence was good but by fook you was pleased when you had them with you.
Another memorable note on that game was on the way out was a copper with a loud hailer
“ those on the train to the right “
“ coaches to the left”
“ those with coaches smashed wait here”
True that .

Was that the McIntyre documentary one? I was at that game in the side streets back of the kippax after the game when they were cowering. I watched the documentary, some gobby little shite on it, supported West Ham I think. No idea why they all joined up with Millwall.
