The point is this is going to have to be decided in court and once again I advise separating yourself from your solicitor in case you have grounds for action against them.
You would have much more chance of actually getting anything from the solicitor if they are culpable than the sellers.

If i was the seller and i became aware of the fact I had been rumbled, then surely I would be looking at settling out of court rather than facing your (and my own) legal costs??
 
What if they have no money?
Who decides what is a reasonable settlement if not the court?
The buyer may need to force the issue.
 
They don,t remember the work being done,Isuppose they don,t remember writing the cheque for 10K+ ,Okay.easyly done.
