Aouar is neat and tidy. He doesn’t seem to be what’s missing from our midfield though. We need much more energy and ideally someone with a much better and quicker passing range.

Aouar is a great player, but he's just a young, slightly quicker Gundogan.

He can't be the only defensive midfielder, he's not a David Silva replacement IMO...not enough to justify buying him. He plays a position we don't have and we already have one player who doesn't fit in there.

What we need is a physical box to box midfielder like Pep had in Keita at Barcelona (and Yaya). Someone who can form a very solid defensively 2 in midfield with either Gundogan or Rodri.

We have two athletic midfielders- Bernardo and Foden. Pep insists on playing both as forwards even though both are seemingly much better in the middle of the park. I suspect someone like Aouar would receive similar treatment.

I dont think there was a single Lyon player I'd say we should rush out and buy on the back of that performance. We were shite rather than them being quality
